I've posted this before, but I"ll say it again, because in my heart I know it's oh so true. (And it came from Medea so it MUST be true. ) I remind myself of this frequently.

Relationships (love and friendship relationships both) are like trees. Some relationships we have are "leaves". Leaves sure can make a tree beautiful huh? They turn beautiful colors and look so pretty to the viewer. But as soon as the seasons change, what happens to them? A whisper of wind comes through and they fall to the ground to die. They are put in your life only for a short period of time, a season, to teach you something you needed to learn.

Some relationships are like "limbs". The limbs make the shape of the tree. They don't just fall off when the seasons change. They can last much longer. They provide support for the tree. Though the limbs serve their purpose, they can be dangerous. Most of the time the limb isn't quite strong enough to support your weight and when you step out on it and really need it's support....it breaks..and sends you crashing to the ground. The limbs are put in your life for a longer period of time. But they aren't meant to last forever. (I think A was a limb in your life.)

Some relationships are like the "roots". There's nothing superficial about them. You might not see them, but you always know they are there. They are strong, deep, and give life to the tree. The tree can live without it's leaves, without it's limbs.......but never without it's roots. They are meant to be in your life forever, they are parts of your soul.

KY, when you sit down and think about who the "roots" are in your life.......you know. You know who they are and you know you can trust them and depend on them. The ones you question....they are probably not your "roots". As you meet new people, there's no way to know right off......but I don't think it takes long. I think in MOST cases when we look back at past relationships, we see things we put up with and tolerated in the relationship that didn't quite make us happy....but we hung on because we wanted it to work, didn't want to give up. As soon as you find yourself in that....you know that person is not intended to be a "root" in your life. It's all about recognizing it, and deciding what you're going to do about it. Right now you'll question the intentions of everyone....... but that will pass.

I'm glad you decided to post. I think I speak for most everyone when I say, we missed you!!!!
