Whilst I don't mind touching and hugging my fiancee (and often really enjoy it), I definitely don't like it when she grabs me or strokes me from behind without warning. I know that my attitude sometimes upsets her a little so I compensate in other ways (telling her how fabulous she looks or what a great mother I think she will make one day, for example) so as to keep a smile on her face.

It's called compromise. Perhaps he thinks that if he opens enough doors for you, it will compensate for his physical distance/lack of tactility. However from your perspective it isn't and so he needs to compromise a little more, to keep you happy.

However, unless you communicate this with him he will never know. I am very lucky in that my girl and I talk to each other about EVERYTHING (yes really), but I appreciate that some people find it hard to open up with their partners. But really, you 'owe' it to the relationship (IMO) to at least try to express these issues. Otherwise you can't really blame anyone but yourself for your unhappiness.

If you communicate and he says "sorry babe, but I'm just not prepared to change/compromise" then he deserves to be left out in the cold IMO.

    Good luck.
