I'm a 22 year old woman, currently living with my boyfriend of four and a half years. We keep active with each other's families (have been since the start), and both our families seem to have liked us, and joke about when we're getting married. My bf and I are both in college - he's graduating soon, and I just started graduate school.
Recently the bf posted a normal Facebook status on students who are unable to properly use a library - in this case, a few female students talking loudly on cell phones about inappropriate topics. He wasn't too happy with the noise or the topic they chose to create. His aunt, who is mid 50s (?), and a mom herself, posted back: "At least one of them likes you and is hoping you will notice them. If you are interested flirt. If not move and make sure they don't move with you. It must be so hard to be cute smart and a college hottie.", followed by an excuse in the form of whoops, sorry, I was drunk.
I'm offended by her statements. Firstly, she's his aunt, and they're not close. To me, saying that is just a little weird to begin with. Secondly, it makes me feel like she has completely forgotten the four years + that we have been dating, or that she doesn't like me. Also, when you are in your mid-50s, in my personal opinion you should be past the stage of drunkenly posting things on Facebook.
I'm not sure if I'm reading too much into this, or I should just ignore her drunk statements. Am I overreacting to this? The bf just laughed it off as her being drunk.
