Wow... 32, huh? Good job Kitty. Yeah, maybe you're not going to see him again but... bragging rights!
Unlike the last few posters, I've never been attracted to people that were much younger than me (I'm 30; 31 in a couple months). I've been told that will change over time."Are you serious? You're bleeping THAT girl?" - jen1447Comment

AtsKitty-Going on a date with an older man is an example of trying to "force chemistry", which is what I talked about in another thread. I gave it a shot, but I felt like their little sister at the end of the night.
Something_Awesome-I've also been told that I will someday "grow up" and be able to bond with men 10 years my senior. But, every guy that I've really liked was close to my age or younger."Dating is like slow dancing. Let the man lead, or you will fall all over your feet"Comment

I was hoping that it would increase the chances of finding love, if I tried to be open-minded and give someone a chance. I've read so many dating books that say "Give people that you don't like a chance. You may be pleasantly suprised!" It doesn't work for me."Dating is like slow dancing. Let the man lead, or you will fall all over your feet"Comment

Kitty -- there are exceptions to every rule and age can certainly be compensate for by maturity and other factors. I was not being judgmental, just that I have found the age difference to be difficult to deal with. I am glad that the two,of you connected a bit.
All -- I don't think 5, 8 or even 10 years to be a huge generational gap. My SO is 7 years younger but definately within my "generation". I think 15+ years makes a very big difference but there are absolutely exceptions."The only consistent feature of all of your dissatisfying relationships is you." Despair.com "Dysfunction"Comment

Oh, effy, I didn't think your comment was judgmental at all. I understand your point of view & respect it.
Ok, then Mags, maybe it's your verbage that's had me lost from the first comment you made about it. Giving someone a chance is different than forcing it, as I think we discussed awhile back.Comment

SA, I guess I got it after I'd replied, and thought about it a bit. And my best girlfriend pointed out to me that I should be proud to gain the attn of younger, respectable men who aren't just looking for the "older woman experience", whatever that is. I guess I'd just not thought of it that way, so ok, I'll take my bragging rights! But to me, it's still just the attention of a man, I don't consider it more outstanding because he's just a bit younger.
As for this guy, I think we'll be friends at least. He has asked me to "hang out" with him, and I've agreed, as friends. I can respect that & I think we'll enjoy each other's company regardless the romantic potential.Comment
