I think age gaps matter less as you get older. For example, I see no problem with a 35-year-old dating a 45-year-old. But when I see a 20-year-old dating a 35-year-old, I do question that.

I can understand a 20-year-old wanting to be with a more experienced, likely more mature individual than he or she would find in his or her age group. I cannot, however, understand what a 35-year-old thinks he or she can get from a 20-year-old that he or she can't get from someone who's in the 30 age group, besides some ego stroking.

I obviously missed the last couple posts on this thread. I apologize for that!!!

Our relationship continued on...we spoke every day multiple times and I'd wake up each morning to a lovely romantic message from him. But....then something happened. Something changed and he grew distant. He would reassure me that it was because of all that was going on in his life at the moment. He has ALOT going on in his life, and rather than let myself get any more invested in it and be hurt, I ended things. However, it had nothing to do with his age and I do not regret my time with him.

Aw, that's too bad BD. Guess we can't win 'em all ....but you already know that. I admire you for taking that action and not letting it linger on unhappily.

Thanks Jen. What happened with him is still somewhat a mystery. But a person who has nothing to hide, hides nothing. I heard from him a couple weeks ago...late at night via email, telling me that he hoped someday soon to be able to explain things to me. Interesting. Ahhh...musicians are a different breed. haha.

Musician like in-a-band musician? My ex was a musician/band guy who took himself too seriously, and my BF is an amateur composer (electronic stuff) guy. He does it in his free time for his own satisfaction mainly. I agree they are a different breed, but the band guy was weirder, like he felt her carried the weight of the world or something because he was in a band. (And they weren't even known lol.)

Anyway, have you started flirting with anyone else yet? No need to waste time mourning after we get to a certain point in life, girl.

Musician like........former chart topping, award winning musician. But yes...very similar to what you described. The weight of the world. And most of it was self inflicted.

I flirt, but I haven't found anyone yet that I'm truly interested in yet. I'm hoping that comes about soon. It's fun to be interested in someone.

Wow! Can we have a clue about his identity?

The main reasons parents get upset with some decisions we make is because they fear we'll get hurt. She may feel that with an older man it won't work out and you'll end up hurt. She may just need to have some time, and if things progress between the two of you, meet him and get a chance to see what you see. My mom didn't have much nice to say about my husband when we first started seeing each other, but once she got to know him, she feels differently and loves him as one of her own. It might just take her a little time to get comfortable with it. If you're happy, she'll be happy.

Ah, I just read your most recent post of how you've taken a break. At least he was kind enough to be honest and just say he couldn't invest anymore time before dealing with current issues. Some people continue on until they hurt the other person because of their own selfish reasons.
