Age discrimination is the lose. False sense of superiority is also the lose.
Ad hominem arguments weaken your position.

LLLL, Oh, I forgot to mention. In order to understand why women seem to stick together on infidelity issues and why they seem to sometimes assume that the men who are messing around are scum bags, you'd have to understand what I was explaining to you about how men and women are different types of adulterers. Understanding the former is subject to understanding the latter in just the same way that in order to succeed at taking a final exam, you have to have read a book and been to a few classes.

MAZ, you make a good point about the boredom and weakness in an otherwise stable relationship and the "spoiled brat" side of things. I don't know much about you other than I've read many of your posts, but I can guess that the boredom probably got to be a pretty large problem before you would really think of straying. I'm also guessing that as things got boring, perhaps you tried to shake them up a bit, maybe you even tried a thousand times until you were "blue in the face" to shake things up to no avail...then the weakness came into the picture. Maybe I'm wrong...

I'm not trying to make you the victim in this Maz, because that would be an interesting twist on things, but in a sense, marriage is a two-way-street and I know it takes a lot of constant hard-work and attention to keep things from becoming unbearably boring. If both partners aren't working at it (and from time-to-time that happens even in the best relationships) then that's when you have trouble.

      Cheers.

Wisdom is the balance between "street smarts (experience)" and "Book smarts (education)"

Your wisdom is limited to your education and experiance so for you to say that you are more wise then me is an untrue, simply because we are two different people that lead to different lives.

People who use the term "smarts", cannot be wise.

          Hehe.

And fire, you might be able to win an argument with your children by saying "I'm older so respect me", however, in the world of rational discussions, it takes a little bit more than that.

"Smarts" is accepted English. Also, Shaw = epic loves.
It's much simpler to sympathize with people who are like you. If a woman gets cheated on, I as a woman can think, "How would I feel in her situation? She must feel this way, too." But if it's a man? I personally am less likely to think he would feel like I would.
As for who cheats more often: I've never been cheated on (that I can prove,) but I certainly have cheated on a few men. I'm the only woman I know like that, though. The rest of the serial cheaters I've met have been men. My data has probably been skewed by being on a college campus, though.

              LLL,

To answer your OP post on why women ban together when men cheat and we call them scub or garbage is because we can identify with their heartache. When your best friend comes to you and tells you her BF cheated with the office bimbo well she is your friend and you are gonna do whatever you can to make her feel better. That may require calling her BF Trash and a no good looser. As a friend you are not going to say "well if you had been a better woman, cooked a few more meals, gave a few more Bj's, and not such a head case well you might not be sitting in this boat now"? You are not gonna pick her apart and all her flaws. Even though it may be the truth no you are gonna wait till she feels better before you point out her relationship patterens and why they all possibly end in the same train reck as the last one.

My BF does the same for his guy friends they'll come over and go off calling their Cheating GF a no good Sl&T and he will agree its so hard to find a good woman blah, blah, blah. He doesn't point out them they are really just morons and need to grow up and their women might not cheat if they acted like a man. He waits till they aren't in so much pain.

I don't agree with either sex cheating but we don't live in a perfect world and it happens for various reasons. Its hard to look at what we might have done to contribute to this as we all like to see ourselves in the best possible way. So we do what we can to help our friend heal and get ready for the next victim lol.

Ok I think it's quite simple: when we do defend members of our own sex it's out of a natural desire to stick together. Us against them. Together we stand, divided we fall and all that

                Isn't it?

I will argue the point pertaining to "age"... It is a fact off course, that at 45, 47 Fire(m), you have listened to many a friend, folly and if you've been married 22 years that means you were 25 when you got married, so what a few extra years up on LLL? However, you state you had many, many a sexual encounter during this time, probably the same as LLL.

But, a 21 year old can hold, obsorb knowledge way, way, faster, and certainly a heck of a lot more, and store it than a 40+ person every can.

I would hazzed at a guess that if LLL read posts, books, internet daily for 4 hours a day, x 352 days of the year, by 2 years, he would beat the pants off me in the knowledge department, and retain that information as he absobs 2816hrs of such knowledge in such a short span of time...

I learnt from books/street work wise, for instance and I am more knowledgeable today because of it...

LLL if you go to bars in addition and "observe" everything you are doing is obsorbing "knowledge" NOT HEARSAY of what friends and family tell you about why things happened, you are getting it at ground level, reality, not hearsay.

                  As for the topic?
