It took a brave girl to to that, well done Missy.. And, now that your family know, he knows they know, your safe....

Whether he talks to a Priest, or gets help is not relevant at the moment, at all... It will take a long time for him to change if he can even change, remember that, don't get sucked in by words...

I hope you write that list of things he has been good about and those in which he hasn't I am sure it will be 10 to 100 not in his favour and you will see all you can have, all you dreamed about, out there somewhere.............never to be hurt again...

      Good job Missy!

You absolutely did the right thing. No-one should ever have to deal with that sort of thing.
I have lots of Police Officers in my family and the horror stories are non-stop when it comes to domestic abuse.

I'm proud of you for getting out of that situation.
Realize as others have said that the possibility of him changing his abusive ways are extremely slim...
whether it be months or years - there will come a day when he will lose it again - I just hope you are not there.

Don't listen to him, they all say their gonna get help, he should have seen he needed help before he started in on you, i've been smacked around and finally got out, theres nothing in the world that would get me to stay in the same house with him again, you never know when he may snap again..

              Julia, what did you send?

This thread is about someone "hitting a woman" yours is about cheating, and your upset ....yet you answered this thread and sort of had a go at men, and Colarado's answer

Refer back to your thread as this belongs to someone else, however, what did you send and has your man ever hit you?

The only thing I'd go back for ...... to gather more of your things and take them back to your parents house. NEVER , NEVER, NEVER go back to the house alone (at least until all of your things are out of there, or major repairs and significant improvements have come to your marriage....like months from now, if ever).

Domestic Abusers are violent people that can explode in a nano-second. Don't risk it. Stay away unless you absolutely need something...then take people with you.

DOCUMENT EVERYTHING that concerns, frightens or scares you. Monitor his behavior very closely, as it is directed towards you. DO NOT hesitate to go to the police IF he acts out in any way (drives by your parents house often, bugs you at work, shows up unannounced, etc.) Yes, he is your husband....MORE IMPORTANTLY, he is a domestic abuser! Don't take chances.

Stay strong! Stay close to the ones who love you! Stay in this forum and continue to ask questions and offer updates.

There are A LOT of amazing people in here who have been through hello and back. Hear them, trust them, believe what they say....why would they lie to you? They wouldn't. That's one of the beauties of an anonymous forum like this. We can all be 100% honest all of the time.

I for one, will keep you in my prayers.

You are doing what is right for you physically, mentally AND emotionally. I think without any doubt you have made the best decision you could have possibly made for yourself and I'm so glad you have the support of your family. And you'll always have the support of us as well. Keep that head up.....you ARE a strong woman. You'll miss him....but you'll get past that part of it with time and you'll never regret leaving a man that abuses you. GOOD JOB MISSY!!

An abuser usually is blind, can't see that they abused, they will block it and claim something else occured, as they are never, ever, wrong, you are..

Go Missy... Love is but always around the corner again, we are lucky like that, if we choose, but always remember, to find it totally, love yourself...

And, it seems your doing that
