Aw! That's pretty lame. I'm sorry. Is he always like that? Has he ever been sweet or romantic? Did you get him anything?

No....I didn't get him anything but did make him a nice supper. Things will never change unless I do something. I'm getting soooo tired trying to please him.

Stop giving then so he realises he has to give

We just get so stuck huh, try and try and get no where and then it seems to be taken advantage of..

Express to him your hurt he didn't buy you anything, or say happy anniversary, and mean it... Men don't get it Well some anyways....

20 years....congrats...that's quite an accomplishment. It would've been nice for him to show some sort of appreciation or something. What gets into guys? Once on a 4 year anniversary, I cut out colored hearts and wrote something I loved about him on each heart and placed them throughout his apartment so he'd find them when he got home from work. I thought very hard about what I wrote on each one. And I attached different types of his favorite candies to each one. I was in college and didn't have money so a big gift wasn't possible. Anywho....not only did he NOT even mention what I'd done after he got home....... he stopped by the Dollar STore on his way to see me and bought me a pack of disposable razors and a plastic fish piggy bank. :\ I laugh about it now...but it didn't feel funny at the time.

The only man that doesn't "get it" that he should do something nice for his wife on any anniversary, much less a 20th, is a man who is choosing not to pay attention. Talking to him, and telling him how it made you feel is a good idea I think....long as you can do it without getting super upset.

Thanks for the comments everybody. It's over but it still hurts. After 20 years of talking I think I may just give up. There has to be something better out there and I am hoping I find it.

Sorry to hear that Theresa. I'm assuming there must be more going wrong with this marriage than just this one infraction?

Thanks for sharing your heart idea Disaster. We are broke and doing nothing for xmas, and our anniversary is the 24th.

Is there more going on? Have things been more buddy/buddy recently or have you both been preoccupied with your own jobs or kids or something?

Buddy/buddy for many many years. Now that the kids are older I am taking more time for myself and realizing I need more from a marriage. I am at fault also. I will be the first to admit it. It's just to late for change.
