Hi all,

My bf and I have been dating for over dive years. We have both wanted to get married, but my family was always disapproving because he is quite older than me.

I finally have approval and thought it would be nice to surprise him or tell him in a creative way that they have finally accepted our decision and will be a part of our special day.

I think it has been weighing down on him for some time so I want it to be special.

Any thoughts? I need some ideas- I'm not very creative.

Why not buy an engagement ring (males), drop it in a glass of wine, and when he sees it , ask him to marry you, when he questions it, nod your head so it's a shock, suprise and you asked him...Dare to be different

What about looking in the local paper about an up-and-coming wedding ceremony and "accidently" on purpose, make sure you both just happen to walk by and see it? And use that as your prop?

I also thought about preparing a checklist with box number one as family approval - check.

I was thinking after posting on something else, dinner party at your parents place and they are in on it, random, normal dinner and you propose in front of them and off course they give their blessing.... That would be a suprise

Wouldn't it be sweet if your parents gave your approval to him in person? They used to do that in the old times and it's very romantic

I was even thinking of telling him I have a surprise for you and blindfold him and take him over to my house/bros house where family will be (he's never been nor met or had dinner with family) and make it a small dinner party.

That will be a shocker.

Or should it be more intimate/ just the two of us type of an event?
