I just want to point out that there is NO such thing as a legal Generic for Viagra (At least in the USA where there are Patent Laws) and won't be for some time. Buying generics from overseas is mildly illegal in the USA and can be very dangerous. You will have no idea what your really getting. I'm remembering a 60 minutes piece where they found the makers using crushed up sheet rock as the "pill" coloring it blue and stamping out fake "viagra" tablets. I also remember reading about the genius who stole the raw materials for real Viagra set up a pill press and sold pills with 400x the proper amount of the drug.
Be SAFE! Be sane and insist that your Husband or Boy Friend see a real doctor *Not an "Internet" doctor. And get prescriptions for the real drug not internet drugs. My DH tried the internet drugs ONCE and nearly had a stroke.

Thanks... Spam for this just burns me up. My husband was afraid to tell his "Macho" doctor that he wasn't functional in bed and tried one of these snake oil treatments from the internet. He told me you click your symptoms to have a "doctor" prescribe the drug YOU want and he said it took like 4 seconds. What a joke! Then he took one of these "Levitra" tablets (Who knows what it really was? He got an erection. And also became Anorgasmic and when I turned on the light his face was bright red his eyes looked weird and I thought he was going to die. *And so did he. He was up most of the night just trying to slow down his heart. Unreal how and evil this is. I can't imagine coming up with this sort of thing and not caring who it hurts to sell some fake pills...."Don't compromise yourself. You are all you've got." ~ Janis JoplinComment

Phoebee...since you have some personal experience in this subject, I wonder if you will answer a question for me? Did your husbands ED issue start overnight or did it occur over a long period of time? Was the problem that he couldn't get it up at all or was it that it wasn't "hard" enough?
The reason I mention this is because I'm 47 years old. I can TELL I'm not 20 anymore, but I have not had any problem in achieving and maintaining an erection. I just wonder "at what point should I expect this to become a problem", and frankly, no-one has ever answered that question. I'm healthy and I think that this helps, but I do take blood pressure meds which I can tell have an effect on me overall (and undoubtedly) sexually, but thankfully not in any manner that would "count" at least not yet.
I know this message started out as spam, but maybe we can make something decent of it by increasing people's knowledge of this subject. If the ladies on this site know more about this problem, and how it comes about then they can help their s/o's cope with it more effectively.

I'm sorry to hear your having problems Fire. First let me say a couple of things. Women don't get upset because a man has a health problem. We do feel rejection quite easily and thats where a great deal of my problem was. And many of us get upset because our husbands don't take care of themselves. *Meaning they don't see a doctor.
DH was on one type of BP med and it make his erections less firm but it wasn't enough to really screw up our sex life. This drug also caused some other really serious side effects that put him in the hospital later (Too long a story) so his doctor changed his meds. The next one made him cough all night. Then we got him on a third that worked but.... Well the ED problem went from slight to total almost overnight. He wasn't getting ANY erections night or day with or without "help" from me. He was just a mental patient. And thats when I felt like I was just being rejected. He was stuck in his zone feeling really bad for himself (And I understand that) but he wasn't paying any attention to the problems it was causing. Plus we didn't understand that erections are not required for male orgasm. So it was like sex was done. Ended for good. And when I tried to talk about it he got angry.
He had a lot of fear over admitting he wasn't "a man" anymore. ! Anyway he got into a support group on the internet and ironed out the issues about talking to his doctor and she got him on Viagra and later HRT. This really has done wonders. Oh! Before that we looking into alterantives to intercourse. There are SO many things you can do even if your erection fails Fire. I'm not saying you should just forget Intercourse we (DH and I) both want that and need it but never think its just this one thing or nothing.
Don't agonize over the problem. Now that there are treatments for ED doctors hear about this from so many men. And btw its not "age" that causes ED. Yes, older men have more ED problems then younger men but older men have more heart attacks then younger men. My point is this. ED is NEVER normal. Its not a rite of aging. It can be the sign of a serious illness or maybe as simple as a drug reaction. And of course sometimes you can change meds and solve the ED that way. Other times its things like undiagnosed Diabetes or heart Disease. Things that are better solved early then later!
Fire PLEASE as a friend do me this favor and see your doctor ASAP and tell her or him that you have problems with ED and would like to know whats causing it. Trust me this will be worth it. Don't accept a 2 minute diagnosis and a script for Viagra. At LEAST get a full physical.
We are both in our 40s btw for what thats worth."Don't compromise yourself. You are all you've got." ~ Janis JoplinComment

Hi Phoebee...
Thank you for your information and concern. I agree with you that when ED becomes an issue, I will definitely seek out a doctors advice. Right now, I don't have any problems at all with sex, it's just that I can tell that there is some affect of the blood pressure medicine. The way I know it is because I just don't seem to get as many "spontaneous" erections as I used to. When it "counts" as in when I am getting ready to have sex, there is zero problem with me getting a quick and good quality erection. It's just on those other occasions where it doesn't seem to just "happen".
Again, thank you for the info. I do understand that this is highly personal and appreciate you sharing as much as you have. I agree with you that if this ever does become a problem, then I'm going directly to the doctor to get it checked out.

Fire your a dear sweetie so please (ok?) be a chum and tell your doctor what the BP pills are doing. And if your over 40 for sure have a yearly physical. Women FRET and doing this is a gift for your SO. Trust me on this.
DH had an AWFUL time with the first kind (BP Pills) he was on. He was six weeks recovering from the surgery to correct the "minor" side effect that DH just ignored and put up with. He was like you. Able to function during sex but less and less non physically stimulated erections. This is not normal. From what DH and I have read this can be bad. Some men use a VED (Vacuum Erection Device) to give themselves 2x daily erections to keep the penis healthy. You might want to consider that as well?
On the other hand the things your seeing might be a giant nothing. I admit that but why not tell the doctor and maybe see things improve. There are LOTS of ways to treat blood pressure. Good meds and bad ones. Humm... I'm saying that wrong. Meds that work for some people and not for others? That might be more accurate.

my hubby suffers from ED sporadically mainly due to the fact that he's broke his back twice and sometimes something just short circuits but our love life has never suffered. As Phoebe mentioned, there are other ways to achieve the desired results :-) and the most important thing for women is that we feel desired/wanted/loved.Comment
