The average life span has increased due to medicine. You cannot put down medicine and biology because of your own, independent research.

Of course the industry makes a lot of money out of selling certain ridiculous and useless products passed as "medicine". But you cannot say that medicine doesn't work for hormones and only against. Take the thyroid hormones, so many people need medicine to balance them. There are times when hormones actually need a balance only medicine can help with. This has been proven, it's science, it's a fact. It's biology.

They definitely do. It even says so on the package. Let alone the doctor saying so before you start them. Millions of people die by many different causes every day as well.

I've been on and off the pill 3 times. Never felt bad because of it, never got pregnant, I have annual checks, I'm happy with it because it did what it was supposed to be doing. I was aware of the risks. I'm currently off the pill, but I'm also all for "respect where it's due". Of course it has side effects for so many women, but since it has worked for me I have personally nothing against it.

No but I'd love to read it. An advice: don't generalize/speculate too much.

Fair enough. But be prepared to listen to the opposite views as well. Honestly, what tipped me into replying the way I did in my previous post was this line of yours:

"If you gals feels like taking pills and shots or putting foreing objects and harming your bodies and your emotional state, then go for it."

Disrespectful to so many women who use a form of birth control you don't approve.

Best of luck, and I insist: talk to your doctor before you decide anything, it's for you own sake.

And another thing: The pill actually helped women take control of their own protection. It made them feel better about having sex, because they stopped being dependent on men. They don't have to be forced into pregnancy anymore, they don't risk getting pregnant by men who want children when they don't want them themselves. Women don't have to give birth to children after they have been raped, because such pills exist. It has an effect on women far more important that birth control itself; it gave them additional sexual freedom, choice and a second chance. Whether we take it or not we have to admit that the pill was a huge step forward for women.

        First post here.
I'm interested in natural birth control.

Hormones and UID have too many side effects and we just don't want those any more.
I plan on using and combining two natural birth control methods.
First, the standard days method. And second, the withdrawal (pull out).

I know the standard days method is 95% effective if always used correcty and only when periods are between 26 and 32 days.

I also know the withdrawal method is 96% effective if always used correctly.

The plan is to ONLY have sex on safe days (standard days method) and ALWAYS use withdrawal, even on "safe" days. Also, absolutely no sex on fertile days, not even with condom. Nazi birth control I know, but we will be very strict on both of these methods.

I'm curious to know what the effective rate is when combining both methods and always using them correctly.

Has anyone here have experience with either of these two methods and if so can you comment on it?

        Thanks in advance.
        tjernie,

and we just don't want those any more.

You've tried UID, birth control and you have decided you don't want to use "chemicals, foreign objects" anymore, that is your choice.

You have a right to choose what you feel may be suitable for you.

It's your body, your choice and there is nothing wrong with what you are wanting to do for yourselves, as long as you know that that 1% - 6% chance is still there and you're both okay with that, that's your choice.

But, as that's your choice remember, people can make theirs as well, including taking birth control..

Feel free to answer the OP's question...at hand.

Nothing wrong with choosing to not take drugs. There are many people that will so the doctors will not miss out on anything in that regard. Other part of the situation is research, no matter how genuine a person sounds a blog is still not reliable information. And that is where nearly all 'research' comes from when a person is opposed to biology, chemistry, medicine, etc. I have been told myself, because I am a science student who focuses on drugs and cellular biology, that I am a "minion of death" due to my studies furthering medicine and research. That is fine to me, I am able to see where they are coming from because I can see another person's point of view. I certainly do not agree with their opinion but I can still let them do whatever they wish. Their body so I leave it to them to decide whether or not they want the help of medicine or to try it out themselves.

As for the lawsuits, lawyers for big pharma win those cases because any drug will have listed side effects. If someone experiences a side effect, and walla it is listed the pharma wins. No case in many of the cases. The ones that do end up favoring the patient are unfortunately the cases that have gone drastically wrong, like a patient did not know they had a history of blood clots in the family and they were prescribed birth control and they themselves had a clot. Or someone unfortunately lost their life to an extremely rare side effect. Those types of things can end up with the patient winning the case. The others are basically a lot of extra time for big pharma but in the end they still win. Nothing anyone can really do about that.

Forgive me but I skipped through all of the 2nd and most of the 3rd page of this thread, just having one of those days where I'm in the mood to post but not to read... !!

I've had bad experiences with various pill brands, condoms, IUD... It seemed that no birth control method out there would really work for me without some ridiculous side effect to go along with it.

For the past few months I've just been charting my BBT and finding "other" activities to do during fertile days. Worked like a charm thus far. I can see how this method might not be for everyone, though. I think it depends on your discipline and life style, as well as the information you have. I bet one of the biggest reasons why more women aren't using this or other varying methods is because of a lack of information.

I also own a FemCap and think it's a wonderful little contraption, however I haven't had the need to use it yet.

                CW,
I clearly stated 2 or 3 times in this thread that it's your choice to take birth control. I respect your choice and any one elses.

The thing is... it's not a choice I prefer because of the side effects.
Hence the reason I seek as much information on natural birth control as possible.
That's the only point I was making.

                  tjernie

Actually I edited my last response, having read the whole thread and having a certain respected young lady PM me to re-read some responses.

The point I am making is not directed at you.

I am actually saying "IT IS YOUR CHOICE" so no one should come on this thread, your thread and tell you what to do, to change that choice, rather answer your questions, if they themselves have tried this method to help you with your answers.

Nothing wrong with giving some other advice that may help as Stressed originally did, but internets can be taken out of context.

Soooo, I am going to ask people to respect your choice, and answer your actual question...

YOUR body is a temple...treat it accordingly.

Or perhaps I should be saying; YOUR body is a temple....treat it however you deem necessary, just be sure that you can live with the results of your decisions be they positive or negative....and don't suddenly blame anyone else for your actions should the outcomes be different than you originally anticipated.
