I am having Essure done in a few weeks. I am going in for the first appointment. I need to know all the right questions to ask. What do I need to know? And has anyone had an Essure done in Kansas- Hutchinson area????

I'm not in your area. It's a great procedure and though there are some negative stories on the internet, they are actually rare. I would advise you though to be absolutely certain you don't want kids. I really wish I had just gotten Meridian or something similar that lasts for 5 years before getting essure, because 4 years down the road I know wish I could have more children.Comment

Just essure fyi:
I had essure done 2 years ago after 3 children, everything went really smooth. Went back for my x rays and everything was good. Well i am 18 weeks pregnant, my doctor is treating it as a normal pregnancy after she spoke to her essure rep, "because he assured her, that all the pregnancies after essure had no complications relating to the coils. I wonder how many pregnancies he is talking about.????Comment

I had essure done in July. I could not have laproscopy due to adhesions from surgery when I was a baby. Everythign I have read says that most women had blocked tubes after
Not trying to put you off
But read the replies on this thread, it will give you a fantastic insight as to your question of what to ask..
From reading that thread, I did my own re-search as well, and it appears that alot of Doctors are not trained properly, insert them in-correctly, some people have in-deed become pregnant, some suffering immensely afterwards..
I've also read some that were successful, but they were once off posters that googled essure and one only that still had some mis-hap but it worked for her....
Just as the above poster stated, she is pregnant, yet had the proceedure....
I believe that they are still in the "testing" stages in reality and are trying hard to get it out there more, so therefore, as I said, some Doctors aren't qualified enough to do it, then there is the prep before, and after...

Thank you for all the advice. I had read those already. I am going in Monday, Oct. 4 to get the depo shot and to visit with the doctor. Then the next friday having the procedure. So I am not wasting any time for the depo shot to work. I am just curious can you have sex for the three months in waiting. Or would I even want to? I do have three kids. I have a 12 year old boy, almost 9 year old daughter, and a 6 year old daughter. I am SOOOOO sure we do NOT want anymore children. 3 is enough for us.
I will keep you all informed as I go through my process. -AKComment

anything seems to be normal when it comes to the Mirena, some people bleed more, some dont. Any time you experience more pain then usual, that could mean there is something wrong. I have the Mirena, since this July (2010) so i am a pretty "new" user, but i did develope a Ovarian Cyst, and that caused a lot of pain, but they recently did a ultrasound and showed that it went down, so now i am not having any pain from the Mirena. The Mirena contains Levongesterol, that is a hormone found in most birth control pills, it actully "relaxes" the Uterus, so heavy cramping and pain prob isnt considerd "normal" with the Mirena, and the Mirena messes up your bleeding, so infact you can go from no bleeding to some bleeding from time to time. I work in a mail order pharmacy, where we specialize in dispensing the Mirena so i know a lot about the product. But in any case, if you experience a lot of pain, deffently go see a dr.Comment

Me Too
I had a Mirena coil in for just under 3 months and I was turning into an emotional mess. Severe depression with suicidal thoughts, terrible acne, an terrible feeling of not being myself and being miserable all the time. I can't believe how much this stupid thing effected me. I had it removed today and already my head space has cleared remarkably!! It might work for some people, but it certainly didn't for me.Comment

Mirena Perforation Lawsuit
I have an Attorney in Oxford, MS. I live in Southaven, MS.
He is actively seeking cases against BAYER, the makers of Mirena. He wants people like me who had perforation, embedment, and or side effects NOT LISTED on Mirena's list.
I had my Mirena inserted November 2008. It perforated my uterus and is migrating around my abdomen slowly. I have xrays and CT scans to prove it.
Please contact me to discuss your symptoms. Mr Chiniche wants -real- cases against BAYER and not a Doctor. He believes like I do, perforation is NOT less that 1%. It's much higher and BAYER needs to take responsibility.
