that is so awful. i hope every thing goes well with your surgury. what makes me mad is that a lot of women on this site have ended up having to have a hysterectomy- a magor sugury that essure caused. some people my not have side effects with this procedure but its seems the ones that do is very major. i hope anyone visiting this site thinking about doing essure birthcontrol does not do it. its not worth it!Comment

I also post on aphrodites and this forum. The problems with these metal devices are not being reported to the fda by the doctors or the company. It is voluntary to report adverse events. It is only mandatory to report if some one dies. My adverse event has not been reported yet. I was waiting and hoping the doctors would report the problem but they have not. The fda allows the consumer to report adverse events so I am going to report my problem to the fda. I suggest that all of you who have had problems check the maude fda website for adverse events and if your situation has not been reported then go ahead and report it. Be factual because it is the fda but if we don't start reporting the problems the fda will not do anything about this bad product.Comment

Forgot to add. Everyone needs to look at the aphrodites forum on essure. The original thread became so long they started a new one but you can still read the archived thread. The archived thread is long and the first 10-15 pages are women talking about new procedure and getting it done but as time passes you start to see more posts about problems. You will find info from me about maude fda adverse events and people who have had coils migrate up their fallopian tubes and into their abdomen causing problems. You will also find there is some question about the PET fiber used in the metal coils to elicit tissue growth. It is worth reading.Comment

Essure not the best thing for me, how bout you?
I have been having abdominal pain for several months now. Recently I found out that I had PID, or Pelvic Inflammatory Disease. I was tested for all STD's and none were found. Approximately 2 years ago I went to my Psychologist (a man) and told him I wanted some antidepressants and pain pills for my painful heavy periods, he told me to ask my OBGYN about Uterine Oblation, a process where they go into your uterus with a wire mess blow up a balloon and put electricity to burn out the lining of your uterus with the wire mesh, it is supposed to make periods less heavy and less painful.
My OBGYN insisted that I either have my tubes tied with this proccedure or I get the Essure coils put in. I was hesatent with the Essure Coils I had a problem back in 1999 with an IUD cutting my uterus open and having to go under the knife for 5 hours under anethesia. I wasn't even sexually active and had been celebate for nearly 2 years after a divorce from a man that anally raped me every 3 months after my daughter was born. My OBGYN insisted and my insurance wouldn't pay for my tubes to be tied normally so she said I had to have the Essure devices so I wouldn't get a tubal pregancy and die from it.
I had the Essure put in and now I have pain constantly, she is suggesting a Hysterectomy, she lied and said that they showed up on the ultrasound being where they were supposed to be, but the CAT scan from two different ER's showed that the left one is not in the tube but now in my uterus cutting through the left top side of my uterus. I am scared. I am a bleeder and she wants to do the hysterectomy on the aniversary of my mothers death that also happens to be the aniversary of my grandmothers death and my father's birthday. It creaps me out.
I am furrious, with this Essure failure. I have been through alot in my life,
I have been abused by men and mother in laws. I have worked 12 hour days 60 hour weeks and am now on disabililty from social security and my car is breaking down because GM used a faulty acidy antifreeze from he factory that is eating the inside of the car up from inside out and I don't have anyone to drive me to the doctors for a second opinion and I live in a small town 30 miles North of Kansas City, MO. The nearest hospital is at least 22 miles away.
I want to take legal action to get these terrible coils off the market.
they say on their own website that 1 out of 7 women is having problems with them and have to have major surgery to have them removed.
You know the pain is bad when Morphine at the ER doesn't kill the pain.
I wasn't even looking for birth control with these, I was lookin for less painful periods and lighter bleeding. Now a Hysterectomy with no oneto help me out except a disable boyfriend without a car. I'm so frustrated I called a lawyer. If you want to see these Essure off the market too, Please write to him and tell him your story too.
I don't want my 11yr old daughter suffering from these torture devices in her future. I have Rhematoid Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, Coccyxdinia(tailbone removed) Rape Related Post Tramatic Stress Disorder, and Depression and PMDDS. I don't need to be thrown into early menopause as well.
get ahold of him if you have GRIPES ABOUT ESSURE TOO!

Essure lawsuits? I want to start one? anyone else?

I went and called my urogynecologist for help when my regular obgyn wanted to just go in and do a hysterectomy to remove the faulty misplaced Essure coil that had come down and was peircing my uterus or fallopian tube and nearly poking up out of my gut.
My urogynecologist called around town and got me into an emergencyroom and promised me that he got me the utmost authority on laproscopic womens medicine 12 hours later a preppy doctor walks in and says well one of them shows up on the CAT scan out of place and I'm going to go in and clean up the scar tissues and put it back where it belongs. He said he was friends with the inventor of the Essure and really trusted it. I was stuck. My ride had left me at this ER I had no way to get out, I was in pain and on pain meds and couldn't get a line out of the ER to get help.
I argued with him that I wanted him to take them out but he refused.
I went into surgery hopeing that everything would go well and the pain would be gone.
I woke up with three new holes in my belly and there was a big black and blue mark where the stabbing pains had been from the Essure where it had migrated to from my tube. I think it was peircing my uterus or fallopian tube and he went in and cleaned up the evidence and hid it all.
I found out from reasearch on the internet that we were not supposed to be given uterine ablations and Essure's the same day that may have been why mine is failing so much. Also I have Fibromyalgia a muscle spasm disease and it may be necessary for women that have muscle spasm problems not to ever even consider using these since we cannot control what our insides do.
I don't want to damb the Essure company I understand their hope for a simple way to help poorer women with permenant birth control but I do feel the design is not what it could be completely yet.
I have had two IUD's one was a dream come true, I was only 24yrs old
it was a soft rubber silicone based kind of base T shaped with the copper coils on it. I had a little heavier periods but overal I was very pleased.
I had the second one and it was immediatly a nightmare. It was hard rigid plasic and copper coil wires and it cut through my uterus because it was ridgid and hard. Perhaps the design of the Essure needs to be modified more flexible with the soft rubber or silicone with copper (copper is good for the arhtiris anyway). I would not have the Essure put in me again if given the choice though.
I woud have the first soft IUD done again though.
I would like anyone that is interested in talking legal to write to me.
I am scared and would like to know there are others like me out there,
united we stand and divided we fall...let's get it together please.

I think there are alot of people seeking legal advice on the essure procedure. Get copies of your medical records. Ask for any and all records. Report your problem to the fda. Write your senators and congressmen about this product. Once enough people complain then the fda will have to take a second look at the essure metal coils.Comment

i am so sorry to all that have had trouble with the essure procedure i had mine done about 2 years ago i went to work 2 days later after the procedure with mild cramps that just felt like mentral cramps. my best friend also had the procedure around the same time i did she wasnt as lucky nothing too bad happened one of her tubes wasnt occulded so a few months later she just had the "old fashion" tubal ligation done. so to all make sure u go get ur xrays done afterward and if it doesnt work dont keep puttin urself through it go get it done the "old fashion" way bless u all take careComment
