hi.i dont have pcos but had a tumor that gave out male hormones for years and since it was removed the problem has got even worse !? not sure why. i feel it affects my life more because i never had a problem before when i met my husband and now im so ashamed to even let him near me. it has destroyed my confidence and life to the point that i dont socialise and avoid even eye contact with people as i feel like a freak and am not strong enough to not care what people think. it has become obsessive to the point that im a recluse. i hate my life and what i do to my family. it is selfish and i know this but it doesnt stop me feeling repulsed by myself and feeling so unfeminine. id love to think i could accept this and lead a normal life ,do other people that are affected by this condition ?

That's not true, electrolysis is permanent.

I didn't know you shouldn't wax your face. I wax my chin/neck because the hairs, although blonde, are getting longer and there's more of them. Unfortunately, waxing means I now get the occasional dark hair, and so I now always have scabs from where I dig at my neck with tweezers to get the dark hairs out because I hate it so much. A hairy face/neck/chin makes me feel very unfeminine, so I'm definitely considering doing electrolysis to get rid of it permanently!

I just shave mine because they're not really that obvious but I'm planning to take on laser someday.

I'm almost 25 years of age and I also have problems with facial hair. I've been noticing it for the last few years.

I've had blood tests and have been told my hormone levels are ok. I am however morbidly obese and have been simply told that this is causing my hair.

Can anyone verify that this is correct? Ive never heard of anyone getting facial hair due to being overweight. I also have not had a period for several years (also attributed to my weight).

Does this sound right? Whenever I talk to my GPs i get the distinct impression of being 'fobbed off'.
Hi, I am 30 years old and have your same issues and had them for a few years. I am going to bet you have PCOS. Find yourself a great Gyne and tell her your concerns. Please take time to look it up on the internet for it may help you feel better and have stronger education for your doctor. I truly wish you luck.
It has caused me major depression and wanting to hide from certian things. I hate that my husband sits and watches me pluck my beard.
Listen I am new to this site and I just read your post and it hit home with me.
I wish you the best of luck.

              Hi,

I am of normal weight, but in researching my own facial hair problem, I have read in numerous places that obesity can cause facial hair growth (as well as irregular periods.) Google obesity facial hair and see all the results that come up. I don't know if we are able to posts links here... but if you google just as I said, one of the top results (5 results down the page, at this point) is an emedicine (WebMD) article about obesity which you might find helpful.

I read on and noticed that particular article is about obesity in children, but the associated problems listed in the article are true for adults, as well.

                  In the same boat

[QUOTE=violet81;166295] it has destroyed my confidence and life to the point that i dont socialise and avoid even eye contact with people as i feel like a freak and am not strong enough to not care what people think. it has become obsessive to the point that im a recluse. QUOTE]

This is exactly how I feel. My husband is always telling me to make better eye-contact with people. I just don't want to see them looking at my neck. I have shaved everyday since I was 17 and I'm now 35. I've done 16 laser treatments, and for me, the results were very short term. The Doctor who treated me said "it is permanent, HOWEVER new hair follicles can develop, so you may always need treatment". YEAH, as if I can afford that!!! I know the're are people in this world with far worse problems, who would gladly trade places with me in a second. So I try to keep my chin up, no pun intended, but at times I feel hopeless.

I call myself fuzzy, not hairy.

                    Hi Ladies,
I know what each and everyone of you feel like. I have a hereditary problem, I'm fuzzy from head to toe... not even joking. I know you all know exactly what I mean.

I am just glad, that I am not the only one out there with that problem.

What I keep telling myself is that other people around me are AMAZING!!! I am the one that judges other people when they are hairy, I have no idea why. I am GROSSED out about it, for me and from others.
To think that I PERSONALLY judge hairy poeple, but no one has ever said anything to me, and trust me, I am hairy!... ahum, fuzzy This is really messed up!

I think we are all so obsessed about covering up our hair, that we forget that other people are hiding their own flaws while they are talking to us: crooked teeth, large nose... WHATEVER!

Come on girls, let's motivate each other.

I have tried everything!!! Lazer, wax, shave, electrolysis, epilady, plucking... you name it!
Instead of worrying, I just stick to my daily routine which consists of plucking the thick, sharp, black hair and picking at the ingrowns. (I yell at my husband when he watched me, he doesn't care though... that's why I love him!).
Once every few months, I bleech the chops and trim as needed.
I bought Nair waxing ready-strips... which I love! Clean up the toes and feet as needed, maintain my stomach and "bikini" area, which looks more like shorts...
I treat myself to a nice bikini wax once in a while or get my face waxed if I have a speacial event.
It's like brushing my teeth, it's just part of my regiment!

And most of all... I don't forget to love who I am.

It's just hair!! I wouldn't want painful acne... I don't think you would wither.
I must say that I hate the ingrowns and the scabs I have on my neck, but what can I say... I just treat them with vitamin E oil, and it helps the healing.

When I was reading all your posts, I cought myslef plucking away at my beard with my fingertips, which has now become my nervous twitch.

I hope this post makes you feel better knowing that you are not alone. I will force myself to be less judgemental that's for sure.

I'm 23 and first noticed dark hair growing on my neck at the age of 16 when i stopped taking bc for acne. at the time i noticed it, i was living in a tent and out of a homeless shelter, and didn't have access to anything or anyone to help/ask, so i quickly reached for the disposable razor, and have been doing it ever since. i'd like more information about the polycystic ovaries, and electrolysis, such as, how much it costs, how long it takes, and how to get started.
