    Odds of TSS are very very low. Keep things clean (don't introduce anal bacteria in to the vagina) and change your tampon regularly and it's really not an issue. They also suggest using the smallest tampon for your current flow so don't use super when you are spotting.

    I can't put in tampons without applicators. The dry tampon scrapes everything horrible and it hurts to pee for awhile. I hate borrowing OB tampons from my sister or mom because all they ever have around are super or even the next size up without applicators. I can't even really fit the largest ones without getting some lube. However I also need tampons I can keep in a jean pocket so the standard applicators do not work. That's why I started using compaks when they came out. I could stick 4 or 5 of them in a tight pocket and go show horses all day without noticing them until I need them.

      I only use OB...they're easy to put in, but you must be willing to insert your finger and push them into place
