Lately, I've started smelling an awful urine odor. The whole bathroom will stink.
I don't think that's normal.
I try to be very hygienic, on the other hand.

What might be the problem?

Certain drinks and foods can make urine smell strongly so can not drinking enough water and the urine getting too strong. Try drinking lots of water and see if that helps and if not I would suggest getting tested for a urinary tract infection which can also have the same effect.

It can also be due to something you ate. Have you eaten anything different lately? Sometimes you can lack an enzyme and can't breakdown a specific portion of the food, it can be absorbed into the blood, the excreted in the kidney via urine.

I know that sometimes things run in families. For instance, this may sound weird, but there is a genetic syndrome in which certain families can't breakdown all of the nutrients in asparagus and then they pee horrendous odours. And, guess what I don't eat? Asparagus! For this reason!

But, if you are concerned, I would encourage you to see a physician. They might know exactly what it is or run certain tests to figure it out. Honestly, wouldn't it be worth it to have your mind put at ease and get a professional answer?

Alcohol

I drank some tangerine vodka once and WHOA!!!! I had that problem for a whole two weeks. Water and juice it out is all I can say.
