Well, I hate to give up on my brief streak of optimism, but I'm going to officially say my latest "treatment" of amitriptyline is doing me no good. At first it seemed like it may have been slightly improving my symptoms, but today they were back with full force so it must have all been in my head. =( I'm frustrated they thought it would work to begin with, seeing as it's used for chronic pain and I don't experience any actual "pain." What I'm experiencing is burning and irritation, plain and simple, but it doesn't hurt. Too bad NONE of the doctors I've seen can seem to get that through their heads.
I'm so, so frustrated. I don't understand why NOTHING works.Comment

Lafamelle and Amelillo- I was wondering if either of you have tried that aci-gel stuff? I may have mispelled it but I think that is the one thing I havn't tried yet so I thought I would ask you since my symptoms seem similair to yours. I am in the process of paying for copies of my medical records so that I can go over them myself. I don't what good it will do but I'm starting to feel hopeless again and I guess I just don't know what else to do.Comment

I have tried it--a few times, actually. It didn't do anything for me except make my discharge heavier (while it leaked out); it didn't help my irritation at all.Lafamelle and Amelillo- I was wondering if either of you have tried that aci-gel stuff? In response to the first question, no, I have no tried aci-gel, but I did buy some repHresh gel stuff which I think is the same thing. I have not tried it yet though. I'm refraining from doing any self-treatment until I see the doctor at the end of the month.
As far as the probiotics go, I take acidophilus pills every single day and have been for about a year now. I was taking a 20 billion 10 strain thing, and I recently switched to FemDophilus and take 2 of those every day which I think are 5 billion of the supposed strains that have been 'proved' to help vaginal flora. I notice 0 change.Comment

I've tried the ph gel stuff too and again no help for me either.
lafemelle I think you said you were diagnosed with VVS didn't you? Have you tried the pelvic floor retraining for it? I'm going to book in and see a women's health physio to get my pelvic floor assessed and treated, apparently it can cause all kinds of symptoms if it's not working properly and discharge is actually one of them amazingly. As for the tablets you take they can up the dose a bit and see if it helps then if you ask them to, different people respond to different doses so that might be worth a try?Comment

Thanks for the replies- I have been dealing with this since 2004 so I literally have tried just about everything. My pcp AND the last womens health specialist have both told me that they don't know what is wrong. All they can do is try treating the symptoms. I take that better than being patted on my head and told ' everything looks just fine.' However treating the symptoms isnt helping either. I can't remember who mentioned it but I thought it logical that maybe these symptoms are something yet unidentified. Like some mutation of a previous infection or virus. Or perhaps something really simple that was overlooked. I don't know but it looks like I'm back at square one- AGAIN!Comment

Yeah. I literally had a doctor tell me she had no idea and that I should stop seeing her. So much for trying to research and help me out like a doctor is supposed to, huh? It is so frustrating. What bothers me even more is even if they can figure out what it is, the treatment for it will probably take many months since it has been going on for an extended period of time. I just don't like to think I will continue to have this problem for so long. Ugh. It has been putting tremendous strain on my relationship, not having had sex in almost 2 years. I've been reading through Dr. Elizabeth Stewart's the "V Book" for some information. I have a few things marked off that I am going to discuss with the doctor next week. I plan on racking his brain for as long as my appointment lasts. It is ridiculous that things like this go on for so long. Thanks for the replies- I have been dealing with this since 2004 so I literally have tried just about everything.
