Well, I got a call from my doctor's office yesterday and my tests for both high-risk and low-risk HPV came back negative (so much for the last doctor who SWORE my VIN meant I had HPV). So that's ruled out, but that makes things more confusing because it means we still have no idea what the heck is going on.

I've been on the clindamycin cream for DIV for 12 days now. I could have sworn it was working toward the end of the first week--I had way less discharge (and it was no longer yellow at all) and a lot less irritation--but I've had a lot of discharge the past couple of days. It's hardly yellow now, so maybe the clindamycin's working and it's just slow-going? I don't know. She prescribed 4 weeks for a reason and I know DIV can be a menace to treat, so I'm not giving up but I'm not setting my hopes too high either.

I suppose the change in colour of the discharge seems to be a positive sign, it must be doing something to bring about any change at all. Fingers crossed for you that it's gradually working.

        UGHHHHHH.

Yellow discharge is back. I've been on the cream nearly 2 1/2 weeks, and up until today it had completely rid my discharge of the yellow color (it was 100% clear). Woke up today with tons of yellow though, so obviously things aren't going the way I'd hoped. I'm giving it a couple more days, but if it doesn't get any better I'm calling my doctor and telling her I give up on the clindamycin.

        WHY is nothing working?

This is not BV I dunno why they kept treating you for that I'm sorry to hear you suffered so many drugs and misery. You sure you don't have Cytolytic Vaginosis? Its often misdiagnosed and doctors miss it every single time or dont even know what it is.. sadly.. it can produce lots of discharge. I hope I have just given you an answer to your prayer! Lol.

Cytolytic vaginosis has never been mentioned to me before, but I did a google search and it does sound awfully similar to what I have going on. If I quit my clindamycin I'm going to try and bump up my follow-up appt. with my doctor, and I'll be sure and ask her about it!

It really does suck that nothing is working for any of us after so long. I have no idea what to do after all of these drugs have failed and neither do the doctors! I stopped taking my acidophilus pills and don't notice a change (granted I'm avoiding sugar as much as possible) so I wonder if I was wasting my time and money with that as well. I still don't understand why I was denied health insurance over this stupid mystery infection either

I'd hate to lose all hope 5 days into the new year, but I really feel like I am going to have to deal with this forever and I'm not sure how much longer my boyfriend will stick by me not being able to have sex. It's already been 2 years and I know it is really frustrating to him too. Ugh. I just can't understand how an infection can go on for so long while being treated with different things. The body should fight it off on its own after so long, no? Are these doctors just missing something or is this all just terrible luck?

Also, I hope something like cytolytic vaginosis ends up being the culprit for the other ladies posting so you can all find some relief and get rid of it, but pretty sure it doesn't apply to me. From what I read on the internet, and correct me if I am wrong, that is an overgrowth of lactobacilli? A swab would show that. However, my swabs have shown clue cells, which means it is, unfortunately, some sort of BV and I haven't had enough of the good bacteria showing up. I wish someone could just figure it out

They dont even check for cytolytic vaginosis!!! Half the doctors dont even know what it is.. I doubt you were tested for it. My friend had a ton of WBC show up but some lactobaccilli as well which finally clued them in that she had cytolytic vaginosis she had to drive from Texas to NYC to even find a doctor who even KNEW HOW TO LOOK FOR IT! So can't throw it out. Also she has had it for ten years...tried every drug and medication cream you can and now told to use sitz baths for her cytolytic vaginosis and even the sitz baths don't mean itll be cured its more a lifestyle change she has to do them pretty much forever theres no idea if itll ever even go away, there is a lack of research on the condition. Sorry amelillo13 I highly still doubt you have BV. Sorry my opinion I can ask her what other ideas she has heard from doctors and throw them at you but they did finally discover cytolytic vaginosis, remember this is a condition that was only discovered in the 80's so most docs are CLUELESS! I highly doubt your going to be some strange mystery thing, again I think it's just one they are not experienced in just like cytolytic vaginosis.

Your what in your 20s' I doubt its some weird estrogen issue either. Plus I think your looking for the miracle cure and it may be a condition that is more simple than what your seeking and may not have a cure or may be a more simple way of trying to control it like the sitz baths with the cytolytic vaginosis.

By the way you can have WBC and not have an infection happens to me almost every papsmear its due to an imbalance in the ph. Which can create an abnormally higher amount of discharge. Glands in the cervix produce a clear mucus. These secretions may turn white or yellow when exposed to the air. These are normal variations, The amount depends on hormone levels in the body. You could get your hormones tested?

You dont have a fever right? After this long if no fever or hasnt progressed to say PID or your pelvic or some sort not looking to be infection related much it would of spread by now.

I dunno if you have had your urinary system looked at with a cytoscopy since you did have a UTI when this started off, could be something coming from this area and not gyno per say.

One more thing.. this is from my mother! What can happen with white blood cells sometimes that when you take al ot of antibiotics and medications or use creams for WBC when you see or think you have an infection it will make your WBC increase even when there is nothing wrong or an infection present. My mother says you may have a ph imbalance and not even have a name to this and have to get your ph right, it could be seriously irritated from the time frame of all this stuff you used. That was her idea Anyways gave you some various things to think over here. Best Of Luck Lots of Prayer For You!
