Weird Symptoms - what's wrong with me?

    Hello,

So..I've been having a lot of strange symptoms and I'm not sure what's going on. My bf is horrified that I might be pregnant, but I don't think that's the case given my other symptoms. I am 20 and we have lived together for two years and we've been sexually active for four months. We always use condoms and have sex maybe 3-5 times a month.

Basically this is how the last few months have been:

Three months ago I had really bad cramps and felt horrible. Usually my breasts go back to their usual size (smaller than an A cup) right after my period, but they stayed big for another two or three weeks. A little bit of what looked like milk came out of them before the swelling went down.

I got my next period a little earlier than expected and I kept the cramps down by drinking a ton of water and massaging my uterus area. I bled a ton (I think the massages might have made it bleed more?) and it was very clotty (this isn't entirely atypical). I nearly passed out and started getting tunnel vision on my heaviest day. It was really bad.

We had sex twice about two days after my period ended and then once about two weeks later. The last time we filled the condom with water and there were no holes (although my bf said that since it was wet on the outside there may have been a really tiny hole we couldn't have seen).

The week after my period ended I got hot flashes, like full on menopausal type hot flashes and night sweats. These went away after about a week or two.

Then around the normal start of my period I felt bloated, my breasts swelled and I had some constipation and back pain. Pretty normal premenstrual symptoms, but I never got my period.

It's now two weeks late and all of my symptoms are gone and I don't have my period. I feel completely fine, my breasts are gradually getting back to normal, my energy levels are average, and I don't feel sick or nauseous or anything strange.

What do you think is going on? I was thinking maybe PCOS? I have always had irregular cycles, but before sex it didn't occur to me and i never really even kept track. Given the other symptoms when I did have periods and my lack of symptoms now, pregnancy seems unlikely, but is that just wishful thinking?

Im not sure what your symptoms could be but no one here can tell you if you are pregnant or not. Seeing as you are a whole 2 weeks late for your period I would suggest that if it doesnt start very soon, that you should be making an appointment with your doctor. In the meantime I would get a pregnancy test to do at home.

I just took a pregnancy test and it came back negative. My period is now two weeks late and I no longer have any symptoms like I might start.

        Are you under any stress?

I've been under a lot of stress for the last two years and the last couple months have been the least stressful in a long time, which is what makes it seem strange if it is stress related.

Sometimes these things happen randomly and go away as quickly as they appear.. Have you got any history of polysistic oviaries in your family?

Not specifically, but my grandma never saw a gyno and had periods only 1-4 times a year. My mom has not had a regular cycle either, but the gyno has said it's because of IUD's and pills, etc. I have never taken any form of birth control or any sort of hormones.

Maybe you should go see a gynocologist then to rule out ovarian cysts? Even go to your GP or a family planning clinic to see if they can help. Then if that is not the problem you can start looking at other possible causes.
