Brown Discharge on the first day?

Hi everyone, I just joined this forum because i was so much interested about it. Just now, i got my brown discharge.. could it possible mean that i was about to start my period? Anyway, I was delayed for 1 month.. I hope someone will answer me. Thankyou!

brown mentrual blood for over a week

so for the first time i have brown blood/discharge. i had problems with cycsts in the past and just had a baby 10 months ago. i called my doc when it first started and he told me it was normal but its been over a week now and im getting worried. so i called my doc today and he is seeing me tomorrow ill let you guys know what he tells me tomorrow afternoon..

I am no stranger to this. I always have a brown discharge before my period. My gyno said it is "old blood". I know that sounds gross. I get brown spotting/discharge 2 weeks before my period, then it goes away and comes back the day before through the start of my period. I even get it after sex once in a while and it will last for a few days (light). I have always had this and I am not pregnant. I am currently on birth control and have been for years. I have tried different kinds and have even has a hysteroscopy where the doctor found a normal thickening of my uterus wall (sorry if this is TMI), shaved it down and said I had (and I quote) "a beautiful baby maker". I am very fertile and nothing is wrong. My doctor said many women have brown spotting and it tends to last there whole life. The only method known to stop this in some women is the birth control shot, but my doctor warned me it will cause women to gain a minimum of 25lbs. He said it the brown discharge is not harmful in any way and many women just deal with it. So I deal with it!

did DeeDee1991 ever respond? i am in the exact same situation and i'm freaking out! my period is due today and i got the brown discharge on my panties yesterday (Saturday) AND the past Sunday! i'm not on birthcontrol, never have been. i always practice safe sex, but maybe something happened?!

No one ever responds because there are a million threads on 'brown' discharge. Take a read through them.

More than likely it is old blood, most of us have it. Your body has to clean out the old blood from your uterus somehow and obviously through your vagina is the way to do it.

If it is that much of a concern, please go to your Dr and get things looked at.

hey im 17 and ive just recently found that i have like brown discharge, i have no pains nothing. This sounds really wrong but i didnt think my period was due so i put in a tampon then took it out a few seconds later and seen that there was actuall blood. But i done that last night and i still havent started my period, and the brown discharge is continueing, but the thing is i always have my period right at the end of the month always have and just at the start of a month. this really worries me because i always have me periods on the same date? Me and my partner slept together last wekk and it was only last night this brown discharge has started happening, we always use protection too.
But ive never had this before and i am getting worried, Can someone please give me some advice thanx

My daughter hasn't started her period yet , but she has been having white discharge, like a milky color, and then brown disharge. Are these symptons of something or is she just going to start her period soon? Please help!!

The white discharge is normal. It's part of puberty. As for the brown discharge, I started my period like that as well.

I have been having the same problem. About a week before my period I get a brown discharge followed by slight bleeding then the discharge comes back and sometime it yellowish then it turns brown. It's really worrying me and I end up depressed. Does anybody know if this is normal? I'm 25, not sexually active and not on the pill.
