I have had BV for 4 years now. I am only 24 and I have not had sex in almost 5 years, so I know it is not sexually transmitted. I have tried everything there is to try...yogurt, probiotics, tea tree oil, echinacea, goldenseal, bee propolis, peroxide/water douche, apple cidar vinegar, metro gel x2, flagyl x1, clindamycin cream x3, tindamax x2, enzara, femanol, the whole BV protocol from rockwellnutrition.com, and the list goes on....I have tried Lady Balance and it made my BV worse. The only thing that has helped at all is boric acid suppositories. It doesn't cure it but it controls the odor. I have spent tons of money on trying to get rid of this and have seen 5 different docs. I was reading about some of you using whey powder. I have not tried that so I think I am going to. I wanted to try activ balance but it is only in the UK and I am in the United States. Has anyone else tried the whey powder and had success? Thanks for any information.

It's in liquid form and all I did was use one of those drugstore droppers and squirt some in 2 nights in a row and it's been gone ever since. I've had sex with my boyfriend since and no problems (would always get BV again the morning after sex). I finally ordered some whey after that's only 70% lactose but it was all I could find so i'm going to try that too, but if you are like me and can't find whey see if you can find the Molkosan, it worked!!

Thanks SOOOOO much detective Sarah because without you I never would have thought to try any of these things and it feels so great to be so far free of this!

Red Berry...Are you still BV free from using this liquid whey? This is the only whey I can find too. I'm in the US and I really want to try it if it works. How much of it do you use at once? Thanks in advance for any info.

One more question...Does it get rid of the odor and the discharge or just one of the symptoms?

This says it is almost as sweet is sugar...Will this cause yeast? Just wondering. I wasn't sure if whey is the same as this and the sugar part threw me off. Have you tried it yet?

No I have not tried it yet.. I was asking to see if mabey someone else has tried. But after reading about "Molkosan concentrated lactofermented whey" It sounds like It should work good. I did however order the BIO-FEM Instant Active Gel I was waiting on it to get here and then decide what whey product im going to use and start them both at the same time.

I Did find this article on lady balance website.

Continuous administration of lactose to the vagina – possible side effects:

Lactose is considered a nutrient – the lactic acid bacteria using it as nutrient source for the lactic acid fermentation. Would other microorganisms benefit from the continuous administration of nutrients?

Yeast infection (Candida albicans and other Candida spp.) is the second widespread vaginal infection in women. How would continuous lactose administration affect yeast?

Yeast is not controlable by low pH as is Gardnerella vaginalis (major cause of Bacterial Vaginitis). One should not expect a direct positive effect on yeast infection following acidification by lactose administration.

All pathogenic Candida species are negative for lactose in assimilation and fermentation tests meaning that this particular sugar is not used by the yeast[1].

All Candida species does assimilate glucose and some galactose , which are the first degradation products of lactose. Though, if lactose is taken up by lactic acid bacteria, these compounds are not released. Presumably there is no lactase activity in the mucosa to support breakdown of the lactose.

Two years of continuos use of lactose for control of mal-odeur in the vagina did not present aggravated yeast problems. Some times during the period yeast symptoms were observed and treated by use of a clotrimazol cream direct to the affected area.

This infection rate was considered normal to the trial person. Thereby the conclusion: No positive, but also no negative effects as to the occurrence of yeast infections.

Has anyone been prescribed these two treatments together? I am just trying to research anything new I haven't tried and I came across this. I have take metrogel and flagyl but I have never been given them together or at higher than normal doses.

                  Recurrent or recalcitrant infections

If patients are compliant but develop recurrent infections, treatment of their sexual partners should be confirmed.

Cultures should be performed. In patients with documented persistent infection despite compliance with treatment by the patient and her partner(s), a resistant trichomonad strain may require high dosages of metronidazole (more than 2.5 g/d), often combined with intravaginal metronidazole suppositories prepared by a pharmacist (500 mg once or twice daily) for at least 10 days. Commercial preparations of metronidazole gel are not effective.

Sorry for all the posts...I have a question...What do you all think about all those books that promise to have the cure inside their book...Like the BV gone forever one? They are tempting because it seems like I have tried everything to get rid of this but then I think like what is going to be in the book that isn't already on the internet to read about...What do you all think?

                      Angie75,

As soon as I saw your post, I said that is something worth trying. I ordered it last week and it should arrive either today or tomorrow. I am going to try it and I will let you know if it works.
