      Just FYI

According to Dr. Seibel, women experience many of the most common pH triggers for vaginal infection on a regular basis:

      1. Menstruation and Tampons: The pH of blood is 7.4, which is much more alkaline than the normal pH of the vaginal environment, which is anywhere from 3.5 to 4.5. Tampons absorb menstrual fluids for extended periods of time, and are therefore among the most common pH triggers that can lead to infection.

      2. Intercourse: sexual intercourse can also change vaginal pH. Sweat and bodily fluids, like semen, with a pH of 7.1 to 8, and can elevate pH.

      3. Douching: any vaginal infusion of water or other fluids can affect vaginal pH, as the pH of water is 7. Fragrances and perfumes can also irritate the vagina.

      4. Medication: many different kinds of medications, from birth control pills to antihistamines, can alter hormone levels, dry out the body, or change the pH of the body's most sensitive tissues.

      5. Hormonal changes: Pregnancy, menopause and your normal monthly cycle can cause hormone changes which alter vaginal pH, raising women's susceptibility to infection.

"We are learning how to control pH in order to help women maintain vaginal health and avoid infections like bacterial vaginosis," said Dr. Seibel. "By making sure to keep the vaginal environment at a pH of 4.7 or lower, especially during these trigger times, women reduce the risk of infection and prevent unnecessary irritation and discomfort."

Try Balance Activ, get it from amazon . Ive had BV for years. This works, had it yesterday, its all gone with one tube. You get 7 tubes for £9.90. worth trying chick. Its a seven day course but you can use it twice a week until its totally gone. The tube corrects the PH balance that course the BV to develop. It works . Hope this will keep the bloody thing away.

Honestly, I had a really bad bv infection while pregnant and I was very worried that something would go wrong with my child. However, my baby was ok; the only thing that I sometimes wondered if my baby would've been heavier if I was bv free. She was almost 7 lbs but usually babies in my family are 8+ lbs. So, maybe the bv had no affect on her. I DID have c-section though, so maybe that prevented her from being infected with bv at delivery. It's funny how things work, how God works. I wasn't supposed to have c-section but my baby wouldn't come out so it was necessary. When she was delivered, the doctor found the cord to be wrapped around her neck FOUR times! A true blessing my child was and is alright to this day. Back to the subject though, I think I may have gone my whole pregnancy without the metro while having bv. I think I just dealt with it. I know what really triggers it and THIS IS THE TRUTH, STRESS!!!!!! Stress is a huge culprit of the reoccurrence. Many times I find myself stressing hard on issues I have going on in my life and every time I catch myself, I'm coming down with this b!tch again....That's what I call BV, the B!tch! It really depresses me and my boyfriend of 6 years, now fiancee' is starting to think that I'm cheating on him. I want to just run away with my child and find a cure. My life at home with my man and bv are the only things that hinder me. I need a REAL CURE. I know there's a cure, the pharmaceutical industry just will die if it was ever released. They make a killing off of METRO. I might need to buy some stock in METRO, I know they have it on wall street. I hate this ****!

I can never seem to get rid of the bv either. My doc wants to do a DNC because I can't get rid of it, and everyone that I know who has had one says it was one of the worst things they have ever experienced. I been thinking about asking for a second opinion, but am too nervous to go ask, I guess. The other thing is my husband and I are trying to start our family... Will the infection cause problems? Since I have had these infections chronically, does that hurt my chances at conception? Anyone have any insight???

Dilation (or dilatation) and curettage refers to the dilation (widening/opening) of the cervix and surgical removal of part of the lining of the uterus and/or contents of the uterus by scraping and scooping (curettage). - From Wikipedia

Oh, wow, that sounds unpleasant. Thanks. How would that even help a problem like BV?

NO NO NO, do not do this!! BV is a VAGINAL problem not a UTERIN problem. I'm starting to believe it has some correlation to A. blood and B. Hormones. I really think doctors are over looking the issue, and we are driving ourselves insane trying to solve it ourselves!
