    does it ever end?!!

I am caucasian and in my early 20's. I can't believe so many other people suffer from this problem from every race, i've heard its especially prevelent in black female.. something ridiculous like 1 in 4 suffer at some point in their lives, and equally 10% of caucasions do.. best race to be to not have bv seems to be indian! I have been suffering from it on and off for the past year, but it wasn't very noticeable until the last two or three months when it suddenly got awful! I was under alot of stress, and i could no longer ignore it. Luckily my relationship ended just before it got bad.. I dont know how people cope with BV when they are in a relationship. I get worried around people, and change my underwear twice a day.. I have always worn cotton underwear so I know this was not the problem. I shower, but try not to wash around there too much as i've been told it can make it worse. I have been on metronidazole the antibiotics twice, they made me so ill both times. I went back and told the doctor i was sick of it, and he has now put me on clindamycin antibiotics and the metrosa gel.. i am also drinking probiotic yogurt drinks every day and having a yogurt for breakfast! I am trying to eat more fruit and veg, but its hard when i am so busy.. so far it has gone away, but i dont know for how long. I advise anyone to try these three things at once (antibiotics, gel and eating yogurts)
As my doctor said - sometimes you need to just blast it away, and then keep up with the gel, and it hopefully wont come back.. good luck!

Take a Vitamin C pill (Nature's Bounty) has a very good one Vitamin C 1000mg plus Rose Hips, insert this in the deep part of your (( )) before going to bed, you will notice the next morning that it is starting to work. Do this for 3 days before going to bed. I did this myself and I was amazed of how quickly my lil problem was taken care of. Let me know, once you have tried it...it actually makes me feel good to know I've help some people with this chronic burden.

      Cheers to more confidence.

I have tried this for 2 days now and today I woke up feeling like my poor little vagina had started on fire and yet I still feel a slight itch. I don't think I can handle doing it for another day! I hope I haven't done any permanent damage!!

The natural way of getting rid of BV is to correct the reason having it. This is not because we get wrong bacteria, but because we are not good at supporting our own good bacteria - those producing acid and humidity, and defending against yeast infection.
The best way of supporting our good bacteria is feeding them. ............... is a vaginal tablet - just feeding them with their favorite nutrient. It takes away the fishy smell. You have to continue taking it, but all the way - you are fully in control.

          Molkosan worked too.

Hi there I got the Molkosan, bought by mail order on the internet, and used it internally and it has worked fine and i have been free for a while. So that and whey or lactose (milk sugar) has been working for me.

I noticed Angelhalo said she was constipated and so have i been for ages. I also thought it was becasue i was having sex before i got fully wet. (Sorry! if this is too much information!) but i think also the BV was drying out my vagina so i wasnt getting wet and it was because of the BV.

But Molkosan - eh- it works so buy some and use it! it's cheap and it's natural.
I actually tried drinking it with water too - as recommended on the bottle - to balance my intestinal flora too - but it tasted the worst oh god! so i'll stick with squirting it up my vag.

Apart from that, i am depressed, overweight and feel terrible and i think it's connected to my boyfriend and christmas.
But my crotch doesnt stink of fish. small mercy.

hope everyone has a nice christmas and avoid drinking gin, it's the bad one.

I tried the vitamin C thing about a year ago and I thought it might have been working while I was doing it but once I stopped the infection was back. It won't cause any damage but it doesn't help wtih the infection either. The vitamin C also smells really bad when it comes out!!

Has anyone tried doing a candida cleanse for BV? I think I am going to try to do this after Christmas. It's going to be hard but I need to do something about this. My doctor has never told me anything about doing a candida cleanse or that BV and yeast go hand and hand but from what I read on the internet they do.

a fishy oder after sex usually indicates a gardnarella infection...its harmless, just irritating... and you're right, flagyl is the medicine for it. and you AND YOUR PARTNER need to take it to kill gardnarella..all women have it, but if there is too much is smells fishy-- and low and behold the only way we get too much is from MEN!! lol...so if you and your boyfriend/partner are having sex, he is most likely depositing it into you each time..so you both need to go on flagyl to kill it so you dont get it chronically

                So Far So Good !

Just a follow up .......So far this is working good for me, as I stated in earlier post about the things I was going to try. I will repeat what i do that works for me.. Every other day I do this. I use molkosan To introduce good bacteria then I insert a little ball of Lactose to feed the good bacteria.... When I have sex i do the same except I also use Biofem gel to balance my PH but I do this only after sex. So far this has been working great. Thanks to all here for the Ideas Im so glad I finally have this under control. If anything changes I will let you guys know. But I think this is the answer in my case anyway if you think about it. Add good then feed it. Then sometimes balance then PH to the level that the good likes, : )

UGH! I'm so sick and tired of people telling us that Flagyl will get rid of BV. Most likley the ones telling us this do not have problems with BV. We already know what BV is and what causes it and the symptoms of it (fishy smell), and it is not an STD. I have only been with 1 man my whole life and I haven't had sex in going on 5 years, so I KNOW sex isn't the cause of my BV... For some it may be but not all. Please do not tell us anymore to take antibiotics... We have already done that and thats why we go to this forum.. To find answers and alternative treatments.

Sorry KatieAnn.....Didn't mean to get offensive but telling us by taking antibiotics will cure our BV upsets me just like telling us to wipe front to back upsets others...We already know all this and it is not the answer. If antibiotics took BV away just like that then there wouldn't be forums like this for us to come to to get support and learn new ways to control our symptoms. I just wish there was more research on BV so doctors can learn more about it and what it really is so they can find a real cure. Doctors think the antibiotics cure it also and when you go back a couple weeks later to tell them that the antibiotics didn't do anything, they look at you like you are strange and the only one that the antibiotics didn't work for, or that you have a new man every weekend. I know there are ladies on here that feel the same as I do because we have suffered from this for so long.

Sorry though, I didn't mean to attack of you anything.
