Abbey...thanks for the thoughtful suggestions...I am sure that the hormone problem is one of many issues but we have never explored that aspect...my wife clearly has some emotional issues with our marriage even though we live well together...so, I am gearing up to address all of our problems and now will add the hormone issue to the pile...

...also, I am wondering where to get the "shot of courage" I am going to need to get this ball rolling...after all, I am risking my whole "life" - no matter how pathetic it may be - to reach for something unknown...and then there are the financial issues that come with divorce...

Shot of courage? Maybe in the form of a tequila bottle... I'm only kidding!!!

I don't know, I think it needs to come from somewhere deep. It's been 10 years, hun. You know there are issues to resolve, it's not going to be easy, pretty, or anything else. She's going to feel attacked (even though that's not the case), she's going to be upset and place the blame on you and herself.

I think it just depends on how badly you feel the need to address this and that this courage that you need needs to come from there. DO NOT blind side her with this. That will make it worse. Let her know that you two need to talk about your future. Make an appt so to speak. That way you both know that it is coming and it will make it more difficult for you not to bring it up and will avoid the whole "where is this coming from" point of view from her.

...I know that there is never a good time for this sort of "talk" but I am beginning to think that waiting a month makes sense given what is going on in our lives...I know it sounds like I am chickening out but there are some real milestones we are moving past at the moment...I have lived with it this long so...

...also, this will take a deep degree of self-examination as well...why did I ignore the signs/problems in the beginning?...why did I subjugate my needs to her "issues" for so long?...

          ...hmmm...

Eh - I don't see it as chickening out... I think you are being smart about it. Like you said, you have your own personal questions to answer. It's smart to go in as prepared as possible rather than not prepared enough.
