Very good points CW. I am an open-minded person, I myself am an artist and I do realize what some might consider art, others might consider trash. But I am hard-pressed to buy typical internet porn as 'art'. Bang bus where guys go around picking up naive/broke girls and offering to put them in a movie ... calling them horrid names, ejaculating all over them (without love, without passion), basically attempting to degrade and humiliate... making fun of them after etc... Art? Erotica? Really?
Scars remind us of where we've been...they don't have to dictate where we're going.

Its interesting - old Roman brothel paintings are now considered art - or at least good history. (some of these are pretty explicit). I don't think it does any good to try to define what is art - opinions will vary so much.

I think that if you are using something for erotic stimulation (mental, visual, or physical), while turning your partner down for sex, this is a big problem. If you are using any of these while still providing all the sex your partner wants, then I don't see a problem.

HD may be right the men do this with porn more often than women do with romance - its very difficult to tell. Men do complain that their partners don't act like porn stars, but women complain that their partners aren't romantic.

I know exactly where you are coming from, I just found out my fiance is a porn site addict, I questioned him and he said he did it long before he met me and couldn't kick the habit, it was searching pics of naked girls, webcam stuff with girls and dirty chat on MSN and e-mail, also sending naked pics of himself doing stuff to himself.

He said the thought of losing me has stopped it now and asked me to put a report thing on his laptop so if he looks at 'dodgy' sites i get an e-mail and he know's i will finish with him

It's hard but you've to listen to your heart!

We look at an erotic painting to appreciate art. We look at porn to masturbate. That is the fine line between porn and art and I don't see them being similar just because of this reason. I can squash a tomato on a white canvas and tell you it's art. Each to their own I guess.

Men who want to admire naked women in a 'magazine' must have the ability to equally admire their own SO when she is naked as well. You just can't have double standards, being "a man" for porn, but "asexual" with your SO. It just doesn't work and creates resentment.
