Sex over 50
My wife of over 25 years and I have had a great sex life together up until about 5 years ago. It was about then that a surgery, a cocktail of dr. prescribed drugs, and several other factors began to rob her of her libido. She now says she feels nothing and has zero interest in sex. She is just shy of 60 and I am soon 56. My problem is that I'm still good for 2 or 3 times a week. While masturbation is fun and provides temporary relief, it's just not the real deal. Anyone have any thoughts or advice? I would especially like to hear from women over 50. -
I'm not quite 50 (will be in a couple of weeks~~), but I want to say it's really hard to know what's going on when you've got someone who has had so much "medical intervention"--
Everyone is different.
For me, I feel like my libido is stronger than it ever has been in my entire life...but I have not been on BC since I was in my mid-twenties and I also don't take any type of medication. These things *do* matter.
I hope you get it figured out!Comment

She should definitely talk to her doctor about her sex drive. Doctors seem to shove viagra offers at their elder male patients and are so concerned with their drives but unless your wife brings it up -- its likely they won't check with her to see if she's having difficulties with her libido.
I am in my early 30's with a very high drive, my friend that is actually a couple years younger than me and was having some health problems lost her drive entirely. She talked to her doctor about it and they started her on some medicine she feels is helping her in that department. I am not sure what it was so sorry that isn't much help, but the big thing is for her to tell her doctor about her concern with her drive. They will have the latest info available on what she can do about it but chances are they won't probe her about the issue if she doesn't bring it up.Scars remind us of where we've been...they don't have to dictate where we're going.Comment

tdean, have you confided with the doctor so as to try alternate meds? Before these problems, how was your sex life?
WC, maybe you will have to get a young guy and train him properly.
You know what the say about old dogs.
I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience.

Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot?
