    HPV (Gential Warts)

(Firstly, sorry if this is the wrong board)

Hello folk, some may remember me - hello to you. (I'm a man)

So, I find myself here because I'm in a bit of a quandary. A few weeks ago I was diagnosed with HPV or Genital Warts, which was fantastic. Been in a stable relationship for about nine months, and read the average incubation period is 3 months, which obviously raises an eyebrow, though apparently it can be dormant for years. I've had treatment and been reassured by a variety of uninspiring doctors. Now, physically, I'm fine, aside from the fact that as far as I know I now carry an infectious sexually transmitted disease for the rest of my life, though my mental state somewhat turbulent.

Some of the things frying my brain being, anger, a distrust of my ladyfriend, depression, stigmatised, repulsive, disgusted, a prospect of sexual isolation, guilt at the idea of sleeping with anyone else, victimised, a feeling that I'll be alone forever.

I guess I don't have any direct questions as such, though I suppose would be nice to hear from other people and their experiences, hollow reassurance and the like.

Hey man sorry to hear that. I think everything you are feeling is pretty normal. Have you told you SO? If not you may want to tell her, or if your not ready you may want to find someone to talk to that way they can help you work on coping with it and help find a way to talk to her as well. Wish I could be more help I wish you lots of luck.

Thanks, yeah I have informed her... Although the fact that she wasn't overly disgusted and still wants to sleep with me is also in itself suspicious. Spoken to a few people they dont seem to say much except, "oh, that sucks".

Yes, that surely is not a good situation there, sorry for that.

Has your SO have any signs of the HPV (genetal warts, or any), because I know for sure, both of you share it by now. Why would you be skeptical about sleeping with her? Is there any possibility that you do not trust her? HPV takes a very long time to be evident in men, unlike women, it is screened during PAP smear. You might want to discuss with your OB-GYN (with her present) about this and hopefully workout things for both of you.
