When I was married I weighed 127 pounds and was 5' 8" tall. I was great looking and could cry thinking back at it....It is gone... I had been proposed to by two other men. One a pre-med student and one a Russian Interpreter, but I picked my poor sailor. Now my wonderful poor sailor has given me the world. I am as madly in love with him as the day I married him and probably more.......I have in turn given him a good 30 pounds of hot woman and he loves every inch of me......No Standards here.....

I am technically just a shade in the underweight category, would put on weight but it's not easy..

Your BMI is exactly 18.5, so you are in fact still in the healthy range. ^_^ A pound or two wouldn't hurt, but staying the way you are sounds just fine.

I agree with that last statement. My boyfriend now loves me (wow, I actually admitted that) and doesn't care much about how I look.
A crack ex of mine told me I needed to lose 40 pounds. YES! LET ME SHRINK MYSELF DOWN INTO NOTHINGNESS! Pfft.

Sounds like me. 5'8" and 118 at 20, now an extra 30 lbs at 40. The way I look at it we have just improved with our age.

Whoa, 118? Do you have a tiny frame or something? I weigh 160ish at the same height, age 19, and nobody would ever call me overweight.
Then again, muscle weighs more than fat and I have plenty of muscle. That's why I don't listen even to things like BMI ... my BMI is in the middle of the overweight range but again ... nobody who can see me would ever call me that.
I have about 25% body fat last I checked. I could get into the US Navy; I must be okay.

Yeah I was pretty thin at 19. 118 was after I had started gaining some weight. I averaged around 110 for most of my later teens. Funny thing is I used to cry because I thought I was fat.

Now I stay right at 160. Still feel overweight - could be because my ex used to make me feel that way. Always made me feel ashamed of having an a*s because I didn't look like all the other girls with little to none. For the greater majority of our married life together I wore XL shirts so they were long enough to cover my bottom. I remember a discussion he and I got into long ago about how I had read that the average American womans size was 12/14. His reply was "what does that tell you about the average woman .... she's overweight". When he an I divorced he told our son that he had to start working out again and get into better shape because he was going to find someone skinny.

Now that I'm away from him I'm starting to find out just how attractive my curves are to others. My boyfriend says that the first thing that caught his eye was my a*s. Still to this day he says thats his favorite part of me. It's taking some getting used to because I was made to feel overweight for so long. But it does feel good the times he has walked behind me just so he can watch.

I'll stop there .... I get really riled up when I talk about this subject with my boyfriend .... he kids me and tells me I'm a man hater.

I hate the way the media and Hollywood tries to set the standard as to how women look - anorexic.
                  Hello Fallen1-

This is exactly what I was thinking when I posted this thread. I would only add the influences of the high fashion industry as a source of the "anorexic" look. No one really looks like super models....not even the super models themselves really look like that. Alot of those girls do some really ugly things to achieve that look. Not to mention most women are not 6ft.+ tall * 115 lbs. Women should not be dictated to by anyone that you must look like this or you're not beautiful or sexy. I applaud Little for loving what she's got. Work it Little! Everyone should have confidence. Because that is truly sexy from the inside out. Just my opinion.

tyra banks has been on a crusade to have women accept the look and shape of their bodies..on one show her entire female audence wore one piece swim suits with their weight pinned on their chests..tyra now weighs 160 lbs. and she looks just fine..heck better than fine..there is apparently a movement afoot in the designer industry to hire models with a more average body type..some fashion shows have had a recent history of underweigh models passing out on the runway..a bubbly, confident "overweight" women is far more attractive than a smug, standoffish trophy wife..

                      Hello dr.mansview-

Exactly! '"?s long as one is fit and healthly". There is nothing healthy about passing out from not eating, forced regurgitation, or drug abuse. I appaud Tyra's cause and I think she looks great. Unfortunately, Tyra has taken some hits and digs for her current weight from the media. This is an example of why I posted this thread. I believe I posted this thread before that happened to Tyra. I may be wrong about that. But if I am not wrong then I submit the media has displayed the practice that supports my concerns.
