you did not comment about my post about mans rules, the way men want it to be. The holy word is the Bible, nowhere does it say that you have to look through a piece of material all day and cover up to your wrists. MAN said this. where in the Quaran does it say a woman must look through a piece of material all day - this restricts women.

Sorry Island lover, I did not even notice it.
to answer you qustion I quoted the following:

When Muslim women cover their hair and wear loose clothes, they are obeying the orders of their Lord to be modest, not cultural or social mores. In fact, Christian nuns cover their hair out of modesty, yet no one considers them ?oppressed?. By following the command of Allaah, Muslim women are doing the exact same thing.

The reason why Hijaab (head cover)is prescribed for women is mentioned in the Quran in the following verses of Surah Al-Ahzaab: "O Prophet! Tell your wives and your daughters and women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known [as chaste, believing women] and not be abused. And ever is Allaah Forgiving and Merciful." [Quran: 33:59]

The Quran says that Hijaab has been prescribed for women so that they are recognised as being modest women, which may also prevent them from being molested. Suppose two equally beautiful twin sisters walk down a street. One of them is attired in the Islamic Hijaab, i.e. the complete body is covered, except for the face and the hands up to the wrists. The other sister is wearing western clothes, such as a miniskirt or shorts. Around the corner is a lout who is waiting for a catch to tease a girl. Whom will he tease - the girl wearing the Islamic Hijaab or the girl wearing the miniskirt or shorts? Naturally, he will tease the girl in the more revealing dress. Such dresses are an indirect invitation to the opposite sex for teasing and molestation. The Quran rightly says that Hijaab prevents women from being molested. "

we don't have to cover our faces, some extremist in some countries like ffice:smarttags" />lace w:st="on">Afghanistanlace> call for it, but the majority of Muslim women don't do it. Because there is no such evidence was given in Quran to cover our faces.fficeffice" />>>

I think this is one point on which perhaps Eastern and Western ideologies will continue to differ. I certainly see the logic in your statement above and it was the same answer I received from a senior cleric when I visited the Regents Park Mosque in London during a school trip many years ago. (After a tour of the Mosque, we were all invited to ask questions, which were duly answered.) However, the approach Islam takes is that there are men who will molest woman, which you obviously see as wrong also, but rather than tackling that terrible attitude of certain men, you would have women alter themselves instead to avoid trouble.

Western logic tends to be that those men who are at fault are expected to adjust their attitudes. As in Islam, we believe the urge to molest women is both wrong and reprehensible, but we tend to focus on the fault of the men in question than expect women to change their lives or the way they appear in public just so that they can avoid having someone do terrible things to them and ruining their lives. We do not view the wearing of revealing clothes as any type of invitation to men, indirect or otherwise. The only invitation that can be issued as far as Western society and law are concerned is a verbal one. If I do not verbally ask or welcome the attentions of a man, then he has no right whatsoever to bestow them upon me, especially in a physical nature and my assertion is backed up by the law.

Men are just as intelligent as women in a social aspect and they are not slaves to their sexual urges. To imply that they are is making excuses for the fact that some may not want to respect that women have as much right over their own bodies as men have over theirs. Many women also have very high sex-drives, as I do, yet I would never dream of sexually assaulting a man just because I might be attracted to him. Like women, men also have brains and are required to use them to temper their sexual urges or they will answer to the law and society in general.

Please don't think I am attacking your faith here, I am simply putting across an alternative perspective; one that is predominant where I live. Paradoxically, sexual assaults tend to be more about power than sex and men who assault women don't tend to do it because they are particularly attracted to that woman, they do it because they think they can and revel in that power they have over a fellow human-being. It's truly evil.

          Good question

The hijab(cover) makes for greater purity for the hearts of believing men and women because it screens against the desire of the heart. Without the hijab, the heart may or may not desire. That is why the heart is more pure when the sight is blocked (by hijab) and thus the prevention of evil actions is very much manifested. The hijab cuts off the ill thoughts and the greed of the sick hearts:

Other secondary reasons include the requirement for modesty in both men and women. Both will then be evaluated for intelligence and skills instead of looks and sexuality. An Iranian school girl is quoted as saying, "We want to stop men from treating us like sex objects, as they have always done. We want them to ignore our appearance and to be attentive to our personalities and mind. We want them to take us seriously and treat us as equals and not just chase us around for our bodies and physical looks." A Muslim woman who covers her head is making a statement about her identity. Anyone who sees her will know that she is a Muslim and has a good moral character. Many Muslim women who cover are filled with dignity and self esteem; they are pleased to be identified as a Muslim woman. As a chaste, modest, pure woman, she does not want her sexuality to enter into interactions with men in the smallest degree. A woman who covers herself is concealing her sexuality but allowing her femininity to be brought out.

Yes, I am correct your holy book does not say cover up completely it says have some modestly.

Western clothes mini skirt or shorts?? That is slightly unfair.

Also what about the nuns who have been raped.

We consider ourselves a modern world, with a modern outlook, why therefore do we have such low opinions of men?? Men have self control, or should have. They do not go around thinking that if a girl has shorts on she is asking for it, well not the men I know anyway.

I have been told by a muslim man "Do not look into the eyes of a muslim man" it means you want to have sex with him. How therefore do I go to my local kebab shop which is run by muslims and buy a kebab? Looking at the floor?

An interesting perspective, as the muslim men I have met and spoken to say that most men spend most of the time wondering what is under the hijab. Wheras if they speak to me with a jumper and jeans they can see.

so are you saying when a child is molested its because of the clothes they wear? have you ever though maybe these horrible crimes are not spoken about as often in the middle east as the y are in the western world? I extremly doubt that a child covering the whole of themselves would prevent their father from suffering from this sickening "illness"

This is a sad fact, I read an article a few years ago which said about the unspoken crimes, child abuse, rape of wife etc. That people will not raise these things in the same way because of the shame it is thought that this will bring on a family or a wife.

Nonsense that nuns don't live in their homes and so that is why there have been cases of rape. complete nonsense. first you said the argument is to do with clothes. then I give you an example about a group of people who cover up in the western word, and you say its because they don't live in their homes!

Of course they live in their home, the home of their Lord.
