More importantly, I put my finger inside myself to feel what was going on and it feels like there's a gaping hole inside my vagina. There's a TON of air or space, it's just like a big cave - I can move my finger around and not touch the walls of my v, I'm not sure how else to describe it. Is there an explanation for why this would suddenly happen, and what can I do about it? It's both embarrassing and worrisome and I feel like it will feel different for my boyfriend when we have sex because I've always been relatively tight, but now it's like a cave in there and you have to dig around before finding the walls. For some other info, in case it's relevant, I'm 23 and on the pill and I never exercise but I think I may have lost a little weight because I don't eat that much, and I haven't had sex in a few months. Please help!

too much space in my vagina - help!
Hi, I'm new here and would LOVE any help figuring this out. About a month ago my vagina started letting out air (queefing) almost every time I sit up from lying down, which is incredibly embarrassing. This has never happened before outside of sex. I've tried researching it but mostly I just get things about queefing during sex, which I've already accepted, but not every single time I sit up! I can't even push the air out because it seems to just come right back in, which is why if I kind of do a sit up and don't get up all the way, it will happen over and over again.

Got any children? Natural birth at all?
There are exercises you can do to help tighten your muscles, however I would really recommend you speaking to a Nurse/Doctor about the issue first.I am going to tell you what you don't want to hear!
Advice is what we ask for when we already know the answer but wish we didn't -
You haven't had sex in months, do you masturbate? I ask because masturbation and or sex usually forces you to 'kegal' but you can do kegals all on your own without masturbation or sex... google kegal and learn how to do those exercises.
A lot of women are under the false belief that the longer you go without sex it makes you tighter. No. If you are not 'active' and you are not doing kegals... you will become slack in the vagina.
I went years without sex and did not do kegals and my vagina , when I first had sex... (i was expecting it to barely fit since I had been absitinant so long I thought i must be a new virgin) i was LOOSE. I began kegal'ing, found a new found interest in masturbation, started having sex with my boyfriend frequently... and bam... within months i could clench down on my pinky lol.
So the good news is, like any muscle in your body... you can get it back in good working condition with exercise
if you have been neglecting your vagina, stop. Do those kegals, it will help with the air, it will help with bladder control later in life, and it will improve your sex life.

Hi,
Thanks for the responses. I do masturbate, so I don't think that's it. I don't know if this is indicative of anything but as I said I do masturbate and I can already clench down on my finger. Sorry if this is TMI but I was experimenting and I realize it's when I lie down - it's like the inside of my body shifts and creates this big cavity or pocket of air. Even if I push it out it comes right back, almost like it's "breathing" (that sounds really weird, I know). But as soon as I stand up, it feels like everything falls back into place and there's no more air. But then when I lie down, it comes back immediately...Comment

OMG! I've finally found someone else! I am 21 years old and have been with my bf for over four years... He is well endowed but not too big... .. a couple of months ago i started quiffing and at first i was shocked because it had never happened before but after a while it started making me mad because it was a complete turnoff for me. One time tried sticking my finger in there after sex to see if i was loose or something and i couldn't feel anything! My vagina was completely filled euth air! How my bf deals with that is beyond me . Im worried- can this happen to anyone? Am i some freak of nature? My own is starting to become a point of embarrassment and im not accustomed to feeling this way about myself :/ my bf says it doesnt feel like that during sex but he thinks it filled up more when i lifted my hips and opened my legs. Tbh I'm not asking a doctor because I've grown up around them and all their running on is hearsay. I've looked but can't find any literature on it so they wouldn't have anything to say anyways. I'm hoping someone else can he'll me because i dont want to be anything but amazing in. Bed... witLast edited by stellarness; 07-22-2012, 12:32 PM.Comment

My first GF (I was with her for about 3.5 years) used to do that, and my current GF does it too. A dilated vagina which makes a little noise during sex isn't a problem or a turn off for me during sex, or after. It's one of those things that seems to bother girls more. I love a girl who feels wet and dilated, and if I pump a bit too much air in, or put her in a position which causes her vagina to make a little sound it really doesn't bother me.
Can I just add, as a man I don't buy into all this 'do kegals and get as tight as possible' stuff. I respect womens' choices to do as they please with their bodies but I told my GF to stop doing kegals."The greatest enemy will hide in the last place you will ever look" Julius CaesarComment

The vagina is a muscle just like any other part of the body. Its always good to exercise your muscles. There is debate whether it increases sexual pleasure or not, but it has been shown to improve things like incontinence and other such issues. As it works to strengthen your PC mucles which are a major muscle group, part of good health is keeping your PC muscles strong as well. That makes sense and sounds perfectly reasonable. I'm just trying to make it clear that from a man's view we don't all want girls to be as tight as possible. I think girls worry about being tight enough (or having strong enough vaginal muscles I'm not sure exactly which one it is) to grip a finger the same way men worry about their penis size. Be healthy by all means, but don't think you're 'loose' if you can't grip your little finger with your vagina. The vagina is a muscle just like any other part of the body.
