I think you can learn some things from porn. There is a lot of amateur porn on the web that basically consists of couples having normal sex in front of the camera (often just because they are exhibitionists). I think that type of porn can be a reasonable source for ideas of things to try. It can also show you things that aren't easy to read from books. Of course different people / couples like different things, and even in amateur porn people are sometimes acting, but other times they are actually enjoying themselves.

Professional porn is generally much less realistic and is probably not a good source for information.

      I agree with Tex.

If you have a boyfriend that watches a lot of porn, watching porn yourself CAN make you 'good' at sex in HIS eyes because you'd be mimicking things he's conditioned himself to think of as the way sex should be... it's cool to take in enough porn yourself , i think, to give him a little flash here and there of the fantasy he's accustomed himself to. HOWEVER, to really knock his socks off sexually (and your own as well) would not require you watching porn... but rather exploring your own body, learning what sensations you like, what it takes to make you orgasm, teaching him and then reacting NATURALLy to the sensations he gives you. Nothing turns a man on more than being 'the man' in bed, knowing he's making you squeel and knowing its organic and REAL and not some fake porno come on.

Most men get extremely aroused at the depition of aroused woman, real or fantasy... knowing its real is all the more of a turn on... so learn what feels good to you, show him and then EXPERIENCE it with him.. it will give him awesome sex, and you awesome sex... win-win.

My wife has loved the porn I have gotten for her. There are now all sorts of romantic series out there. None of this 'bend over and take it' . Good foreplay. Even the girl-girl stuff (she isn't into girls going down on each other) from this place gets her going.

She also has some mental orgasm issues where she can't shut off her mind. Only when she does do I get the honor of getting to feel her orgasm from the inside . And that seems to happen when she is watching a movie and not thinking about XY or Z.

Before you dismiss porn altogether, there may be a way to happily incorporate it.

I would not waste ypur time with porn. There are some "educational" videos out there but the good ones are few and far between. There are some great books. Personally, I would ask you to teach yourself how to masterbated to orgasm first since that is usually the womens biggest problem. Then the rest should come naturally. There are not alot of tricks to sex except when it comes to bringing the women to orgasm. Surely not for the man.

True, there is some amateur porn with real couples who aren't trying to emulate commercial porn, and there is some commercial porn, in the way of "porn for women," that may be educational and more realistic.

But most commercial porn is terrible at teaching anything about real sex, because it is made to satisfy male viewers rather than the actors and actresses. Scratch that; in fact, the male actors may love it, because the sex is all about them and they don't have to put in an effort. Therein lies the danger. If you're inexperienced, it's easy to watch that and to get the false impression that good sex is supposed to be penis-centric. Then when the couple attending Porn U tries to model their love making after what they saw and she doesn't respond the way the actresses do in the videos, the question becomes "What's wrong with her?" As if him pounding away at her for two minutes like he's tenderizing meat is really supposed to give her an epic orgasm.

                  That is an inaccurate statement.

I think you guys need to give her (and others) a little more credit. Reading the responses, it sounds like some are worried that if she watches hardcore porn by accident, she will be a gang-bang queen by the end of the weekend!

I think that two caring adults should be able to watch darn near anything with equal rationality, maturity, and skepticism. Are there young men out there learning inappropriate sex techniques as we speak? I have no doubts. That is why it is so important to stress openness and willingness to learn new things, to correct such mislearnings.

I don't actually see that SoCoKen, it's evident that the OP purely wants to learn techniques, positions, and is posing the question as to whether visuals of watching porn would assist. It's natural to point out in my opinion, that there is porn and then there is hardcore porn... If she views hardcore porn being in-experienced full stop and believes that is the way you "do things" then she is getting the wrong impression, on what intimacy is all about, hense I think the posters are trying to persuade her to go in other directions, with educational videos, reading, and the likes for that reason and I agree personally in my opinion.. That to me is reserved for when you are experienced, you can then take what you like or not take what you like from watching those in that understanding....

Most commercial porn is in-deed aimed at making money, and so they are about a man's fantasy, and some of those fantasies are really out there and degrading in my opinion against women.

There are "no" in-accurate statements, there are "opinions"...

I have watched porn with girlfriends. Porn is acting. The best way to learn is through communication. When I am in new relationships I listen to women, especially when they talk about sex. I know that women I date have had plenty of sexual experiences, so they know what they do and don't like. One girl I dated and fell in love with told me her most intimate secrets. In fact, we knew everything about each other, which is probably what brought us closer together. So when she talked about her sexual experiences with a smile, I knew what she liked. Maybe she was giving me a heads up???

Anyway, women enjoy different techniques. It's a man's job to find out what they are. Men should feel grateful that women trust them enough to share what they enjoy. I'm sure women expect the same from men.

My advice is to talk while you're intimate. Ask him if he's enjoying what you're doing. Ask him if there might be something else he would like you to do. In return, you tell him what you would like him to do for you.

                      Good Luck,
