Pain during penetration -- feel like a fraud

Hi -- I'm 43 y.o. straight woman. Very sensual person, love kissing, touching, orgasm easily during masturbation, long for penetrative sex, but it has always been painful. About 10 years ago, I told my doctor who thought I might have endometriosis -- got that checked and all normal. The problem is that the penis hits my cervix and it hurts like hell. I've been to sex therapists who suggested different positions; suggested I might not be aroused enough; finally I asked another Dr. if I have a short vagina and she said "yes", and the "helpful" advice I received was to try different positions. I don't know how many times I've heard that :-) I've tried many positions and while it may feel OK for a little while, if he moves 1/8" the wrong way, it's zing! Therefore, of course, I cannot relax and I most certainly cannot orgasm (which I would LOVE to do). I am 43 years old and I haven't been very active in my life, but active enough for my brain to equate penetrative sex with pain. I am now single and I REALLY want to figure this out because I need to get back on the dating scene, but I feel like a fraud. Men find me sexy; women find my sexy. I FEEL sensual and sexy, but the reality of the bedroom is that it's always disappointing and now extremely disheartening.
What I WANT: I want my partner to be able to experience the pleasure of being able to thrust deep, without holding back, without hurting me. For me, I want to be able to let go and not worry about pain. I also want to be able to hold my value as a lover, even if the pain continues... this is MUCH harder.
POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS I'VE DREAMED UP: 1) There MUST be such a thing as jelly rings like those found on the toddler Fisher Price ring toy, that could be put around the penis to prevent deep penetration, but would allow him to feel as though he were going deep. The Fisher Price ones would hurt, I think (though I've thought about trying it with the phantom boyfriend), but some manufacturer somewhere must make something of softer material. I also think that the ring itself would stimulate my clitoris and entire area and that seems a bonus. 2) Surgery???? 3) OTHER IDEAS SO VERY WELCOME! Please don't tell me to go to the gynecologist again unless you KNOW of something that they could do. I go annually for regular exam, and all is well down there, except perhaps the size. THANK YOU LADIES!

It sounds like a guy with a shorter than average penis could fit the bill. Do you have ay idea how far penetration can go before your cervix gets hit? Is girth a problem?

2.5 - 3" as a guess, though I've never measured. My fingers are fine and they're about 3 inches max. Girth is not a problem, in fact, probably the wider the better. How does one put this in an online profile? lol... :-)

You could not have penetrative vaginal sex. Many men (though of course not all) would be happy with other alternatives. You might also find another doctor - this seems pretty unusual and it would be good to understand what is really going on. There is a chance that it is the sort of thing where practicing with a sex toy would help, but maybe not

Hi Rcoreyus, thank you for your response. Would many men really be happy with other alternatives? I did finally confess to a partner that I enjoy anal stimulation. We never got to penetrative anal sex, but could be a viable alternative. How many men are into this? I seriously don't know... naive me, Poplar552

I wonder how much of a man's length actually gets inserted. I would suppose it is the measurable length on the top minus about an inch (as you can see in some porn pictures - bodies don't fit perfectly together). That would imply a guy in the missionary position could be somewhere in the 3.5 - 4" length without you getting your cervix hit. If you try something like the jockey position (such as in sexinfo101), but flatten it out like rear entry or even spoons, you could have a position where your butt cheeks and upper thighs don't let a guy penetrate as far. In such a case the guy could be even a bit longer.

If you wanted to research things a bit further, search for [world penis size]. You will find that all nationalities are not endowed equally. On average, many sources indicate Korean men are the shortest. That does not mean that any particular guy is going to be short or long, just a greater likelihood.

I'm not sure how you would put something like that in a profile to get responses from guys shorter than average. Most guys would not want to admit it even if it led to a relationship.

              Thanks jns

for your responses. Very helpful. I will check out the positions you mentioned. What about anal sex? Would you say "most" men would be OK with it (some are REALLY into it, I know) with a bit of time to get used to the idea?

I really don't know about anal sex. A lot of guys may say that they're into anal sex, but a lot of them never had it or had it more than several times. I would think it takes more prep and clean up so it may not be done in a short time period. That being said, a guy who was OK with it who really wanted to please a girl who was into it, would probably enjoy doing it. Also, without doing it several times with someone gentle and skilled, you cannot be sure that it is for you and that it does not cause you pain.

I don't know how man men would find this OK. Personally I would, but I don't know how unusual I was. I like all sorts of intimacy, missing out on one particular act wouldn't be that big a deal.

                    Good advice

Thank you again for your very helpful responses. You are quite good at this; thoughtful. I think I will see the MD again, and then see what I can do with the next mate. I really do feel better having put this out there and gotten honest responses back. It's interesting to me how wrong my assumptions are about men -- if you listen to popular media (e.g. 40 year old virgin, etc.), you would think that every man is hoping for anal sex. And jns said that he doesn't really know how many men are into it -- I thought men talked about sex all the time -- but maybe not in a "real" way about themselves? Thank you again, Poplar
