Anal sex and the female orgasm - interesting

I just read about a research that showed that different sexual activities affect the likelihood of orgasm. For men there wasn't such a huge discrepancy compared to women. These numbers surprised me:

    Partnered masturbation: 64.3%
    Gave oral sex: 72.1%
    Received oral sex: 81.0%
    Penile-vaginal sex: 65.9%
    Received anal sex: 93.5%

The anal sex part really surprised me.

For men who received anal sex, it was 100% where as for those who gave, it was only 89.4%

Next time there is an anal sex thread, I might post these results.

I read about that too. It was interesting. In the article I read there was some discussion over causation versus correlation. Are the women having orgasms because they're having anal sex or are they having anal sex because they're having orgasms?

I guess I don't quite follow - the percentage is the chance that a woman had an orgasm when doing that activity? e.g. women have orgasms 72.1% of the time while giving oral?

I do understand the anal tho, bit surprised it's so universal (assuming my assumptions are correct about the figures).

For some reason I can't find the study, but I think it was based on whether or not they orgasm and relating it to if they engage in that activity. So basically, 93.5% of women who engage in anal sex are brought to orgasm at some point during sexual activity.

Oh okay, now I get it.

I guess my anal observation is unchanged then - I'm not surprised but I'm surprised.

I think stillness is probably right - selection effect. Women who engage in anal sex are probably open and active sexually and have probably tried lots of other things as well, so not surprising that they have more orgasms. That said, anal stimulation is one of the fastest ways to get my wife to orgasm. (neither of us knows why)

That was exactly what the article I read said. That's not the hard science though. It was just the writers questioning and supposition regarding the data. There was also a question of whether or not the women who were more satisfied were also more willing to indulge their man. I wish I could find it.

I also heard about some cutting edge studies into female genital nerve "wiring" about a year ago that was saying that they're a lot more varied than us. I think they compared it to fingerprints. They specifically mentioned it being responsible for why some women like anal stimulation and others don't.

I'm going to go with the probability that women who don't have orgasms with anal sex are not having anal sex and couldn't answer the studies on that topic. I've tried repeatedly and I am not comfortable with anything wider than about 1" so I'm not trying anal sex anytime soon. The percentage for oral doesn't surprise me. That's the fastest way for me. I tried a clit pump to simulate it while masturbating but it's not working. Potentially another design might work better but I'm not sure it's worth throwing money at.
