Doing constant reading on the subject it seems there are many environmental factors of todays world that work against men and their natural t levels. Plus the natural drop off as we get past our 20's. Looking back I started having a significant drop in my early 30's.
Our sex life now is better than it has been. Id say the best its ever been even. Intimacy like that also seems (for us) to have opened the door to talk about other issues that we hadn't before. Plus my overall energy and mood is in a better place. Having done my homework on the issue also made me driven to figure out the female sex drive and I found out things I had ignored and now try to be aware of.
I am more considerate, that for women the menstrual cycle and the hormone fluctuations have a huge effect. I have seen the charts and read comments from women and discussed them with my wife. I know when she is charged up and know when she isn't so much but sex is still a very mental thing so I put extra effort in to those times when she is receptive but not necessarily horney. When she simply isn't into it I back off because I know in a few days she will make it up in spades.

As a man I have had a small example of how hormones effect mood. I know its no where what near girls go thru but in the beginning when I started getting shots my hormone levels were fluctuating. I would feel emotional swings and figured out it was do to the shots. For guys on T therapy we also can get an imbalance in our estrogen level. Like my doctor tells me its not getting the testosterone level up its balancing the whole package. The recent buzz about T therapy and heart issues is a flawed study and its not helped by guys who get a script for lotion and over apply it and their MD does not follow up and monitor all the other blood chemistry. I go for a shot every week and my blood is tested every 90 days. A common drug used to help balance the additional T from metabolizing into estrogen in men and ALL those side effects is a very low dosage of Anastrozole, a drug used for the treatment in women with breast cancer. It suppresses estrogen production. When my estrogen levels were going up I swear I would get somewhat emotional. I would watch a sad movie and ******** near cry. I am far more understanding of what girls go thru. I wouldn't want to fight that battle monthly.

Sorry for the long post but I see guys all around me all day long who could benefit from this but they take the position that its what nature wants. Screw that.
That's why I also realize hormones in women who are not interested in sex could be an issue but they are in denial just like some men.

You girls out there if your SO has symptoms encourage him to be checked but not by a family MD. They hate this stuff because they don't know how to look for the true normal level for each guy and its something of a specialty. My internist put me off for a couple years and I went to another source. Its a national franchise chain in many big cities. Their logo has a big green T in it. I will provide info via pm if someone wants a link.
My internist still isn't thrilled but he acknowledges its worked for me. My only side effect is I now have mildly high blood pressure which is well controlled with meds. In exchange I am not fat, sluggish, grumpy, on diabetes meds and not interested in life and sex. Id say its a fair trade.

My current libido and wellness is why I search for more info how to understand and make my wife happy and satisfied. Its how I stumbled on this website recently. IF she is happy and satisfied then she is going to reciprocate and boy does that feel great.

Dude, BIG welcome to you. The community needs your voice. So many ladies are struggling with this.

I wonder if there's a way to deal with it naturally, like with diet and exercise - something that wouldn't have the negative side effects.

I don't think diet and exercise along will fix the root issue. Just like for women who may have similar issues diet and exercise may bump it a bit but not much I think. AND for any of the people who hear about the testosterone boosters for sale over the counter PLEASE don't waste your money. If its not a true testosterone product via a MD with a script such as lotion or shots your just buying snake oil. How many diet pills over the counter actually work? None. Not like a script of Phentermine.
But if you get your SO on this and he takes off even close to what I have done make sure your ready and willing and excited to wear him out.

One of the first books I read was recommended by where I started getting my shots. Its a good primer well written and easy for a non MD to understand. Its written by a guy who has HIV and is gay but he writes the book very well. I read the forward and this guy is still going strong at his website. The second half deals with more sexual issues and isn't totally pertinent to the info on testosterone and how it works in men. I wont post the link but the title is Testosterone: A Man's Guide written by Nelson Vergel.
After that I have and continue to read for hours on different sources to keep current. I hope some point they can do a pill form. I find that going more than 1 week for a shot I can feel the porpoise effect. I was about 150 on my level and now run around 750-800. But that's not the true number. Free testosterone is the real number to work to raise. Why? Read and learn for yourself.

Sorry for the massive thread drift and I will stop. This site is about women.

HH, thanks so much for that feedback. Yes, my hubby has many of the classic symptoms of low T and I have been asking him to go see a specialist for years. I even researched some leading experts from world renown institutions. He is afraid of the side effects. I told him that he doesn't need to go on the medication, but he needs to check it out to figure out whether it is low T or something else. Still no go. Don't know how else to motivate him to go see a specialist.

sp, were you one of those who fell on the side of extramarital sex being okay in certain circumstances? (Sometimes it's hard to keep track lol. )

Anyway I hate the thought of what might be your sexually best years going to waste. It's one thing if your partner has issues and is willing to try to correct them, another if he does and isn't.

Don't apologize. It's an issue important to women too. I pressed my DH to go to my endocrinologist because I just knew his problem was diabetes. He does, in fact, have "pre-diabetes," but the endo found that he also has low testosterone. Unfortunately, he's still not regulated on T medicine after two years of tweaking. Still too low. 8-(

This site is about people. There used to be a mens-health (still may be) in the same family of sites linked at the bottom of this one, but it wasn't as good. This site has plenty of male members. The stuff that affects men also affects the women who love them.

I've been hanging around for a couple of years and have never heard anyone with an experience like yours. There are some members who desperately need your perspective. Their family life is suffering because of bedroom issues. Please don't feel shy about opening up here. The one thing you leave out might be what someone needs to hear to turn a corner on their situation.

Yes I am. I have very liberal views on sex. And yes, his lack of trying has been a super soar issue between us.

This might make a good topic of discussion itself, because it seems like so many threads end up going here. I think I'm actually in favor, for the record, as long as it was done out in the open. In my mind it's not so much the fooling around with another that's harmful as the deception that often goes along with it.
