There actually is a medical reason and anatomy reason why the cervix and vagina is tilted on the angle that it is. Apart from a few lessor species that does mate face-to-face by accident the only species that's been observed having sex face to face besides humans, as well as enjoying a little bit of French kissing and oral sex are bonobos. They also engage in the occasional same-sex hand job and lesbian adventure--even incest. If sex can't fix it, these monkeys don't want to hear about it.

What it means is that the tilt of our vagina, and cervix is such that we were designed for rear-entry sex. Of course the fact that we are a social species means that we have evolved into face-to-face sexual positions. We are also one of the few species that have sex for pleasure and not solely for procreation.

A cervix has limited mobility. It can seem to move due only to the elongation of the vagina, or tilt of the uterus. Unless it is being dilated and opened using special instruments or rods, or by childbirth it is a tight band in the vagina. Sorry Motor, but it would be nearly medically impossible for a penis to thrust beyond the cervix and a penis cannot thrust past the cervix unless there is something very very medically wrong with the women.

Claret, I think the vagina extends beyond the cervix slightly forming a small "pouch" if you will. It contains the posterior and the anterior vaginal fornices. Now I'm not sure about most women, but if you check most anatomy texts (Gray's or Netter's) you will find the vagina is illustrated with a posterosuperior tilt. That is the vagina angles up towards the abdomen, but also back towards the spine. This supports your idea that we naturally meant for "rear-entry" sex. Might explain why so many people list doggy as their favorite position!

But the vaginal fornices might actually provide a tiny bit of space (my guess would be just a centimeter or 2 at most) in which you could go "past" the the cervix. It would be more directly accessable in a doggy style position, perhaps explaining why most women claim doggy allows their partners to thrust "deeper".

I'm not saying there isn't mobility to the cervix, (re-read my response) I'm saying that if a man thinks he is thrusting past the cervix, he is mistaken. The vaginal walls could be loose enough to allow the penis to push the vaginal wall a bit to the side to accommodate a deeper thrust but there is not normally a way for the penis to thrust "past" and by this I took the OP to mean his penis went Past the cervix. If the vaginal wall has been stretched, thinned or otherwise is abnormal then the cervix may, just may prolapse, causing a sort of "sag if you will" into the vaginal cavity and the penis could push up along side of the cervix. The cervix itself is 2 - 3 cm in length and is a tight tight band of tissue with an opening into the vaginal cavity and at the other end an opening into the uterus. This is above and beyond the normal amount of movement that can happen. For instance during ovulation the vagina will elongate and push the cervix closer to the uterus as a help in conception.

Just as an aside here, I've nursed a patient that had a complete prolapse. Her vaginal wall and cervix would protrude outside her body. It would be gently pushed back into her body on a regular basis.

I've no doubt that different people may feel various things during the act itself but there is some basic anatomy at play here.

Any way I can get it? Ha...doggy style and one we call the scissor move, although I'm not sure that's what it's called.
