I too would like to get a bit 'kinky' with my wife, and we've talked about it, but nothing has happened.... she has read the 50 shades of grey books and a lady at her work even gave her some handcuffs (for me to use) but they are too small and they are more like plastic toy ones.

As a person that once went through some handcuff training I'm not sure why anyone would want to use real handcuffs as a regular part of sex, unless you're into pain. Those things are NOT comfortable and I had bruises and missing skin at one point to prove it.

I always recommend, when the subject arises, that people that want to play with cuffs stick with the furry ones from the local sex shop! lol.

My GF owns whips and cuffs (though I never seen them), and I would say cuffs make me much more nervous than whips. I've always needed some sort of control over myself. If I can have at least 1% control, I can make it. Being hand cuffed to a bed means I have zero control. This may be why your husband is so apprehensive.

I am OK with my hands being handcuffed together, but bind me to something like a bed and and strip me of my autonomy and heart will race. Maybe he is nervous about doing it right. Maybe he feels worried about not being able to play out the fantasy the same way you imagine it in your head. Those are legitemate concerns (if he has them). Maybe try approaching him at it at a new angle that addresses those potential concerns?
