Is it 'natural' to go for the bum?

    Have questions about analingus?

    We have more answers!

Read our Knowledge Base article, “What Is Analingus?” here:

Another anal/analingus thread on the way ....

Something Awesome said in another thread that his recent conversion to analingus on his GF had quickly become "second nature." Now, I don't think he was exactly saying this, but it made me think - how 'natural' is it to be drawn to a woman's bum? (And I mean bumhole here specifically - her anus.)

I can say without hesitation that when I first started having sex with women, I immediately wanted to go there. And I've always wanted my lovers to take care of mine - it seemed instinctual in both cases (tho not so for men, or on men I mean ....I'm sure that's a double standard but I don't care).

So how do you feel about it? I think we can all agree that there's 'something' that draws us to a woman's vajay - an instinct, drive, impulse, whatever - meaning that you don't think to yourself "Hm that vagina is maybe something I should look into." You just do, much the same way animals do I suppose. I'm pretty sure you could be a Tarzan type with no civilization or education whatsoever and you would still want p___y. Imagine the same thing for a woman's bum - is it legit? Do you just plain 'want?'

For the guys (or anyone else who might want to put a penis or penis-like object in there under similar circumstances), you can answer whether or not anal sex (penetration) is natural too. It's less so for me but still by no means off the radar.

It was instinctive for me, however, never with any guys I've been with, well they've done it to me, but I never reciprocated with a guy.

I don't know. My 'natural' thought process was that it was dirty. If you think something is dirty then you won't want to go there. Once I figured out it was not dirty, I can never not go there anymore.

I still stand by your "center of the universe" analogy for a lady's peach.

Lastly, I have never done anal sex and don't plan to.

Edit: My first ever sexual contact happened with me giving oral. So I guess it's pretty natural to have a fascination with the peach!

When everyone says "you should do it" over and over, it's hard to not cave in. When I went in the first time with my mouth, I gave it a few test licks first lol.

But before I used my mouth I used my finger to go inside her bumhole while giving oral. I sniffed my finger after word as a litmus test for cleanliness You guys can judge me all you want for that but I knew if it smelled like nothing then using my mouth should be OK. She wasn't looking when I sniffed it.

Well for me with the wife when we are getting into some oral stimulation. I will kind of play with her bum and ask her you like that hows it feeling she will moan and groan let me know she really enjoying the feeling of it so I will continue on with the bum play.Bum play it's not a everyday thing will do we both have to be really up for it at that time.It could be just with fingers or tongue some times sex that way it all depends.

              :
I am also a recent convert. I've had anal sex in the past but never had any inclination to give anyone's bum hole a lick.

The subject matter is actually what brought me to this site as I felt like a perv for doing it and wanted to know more about it. I'm comfortable with it now as I know it gives my girlfriend pleasure and I've never had a woman drive me so nuts. I crave every part of her body.

The other day I showed up to pick her up from Tae kwon do with 7 new lacy panties and asked her to put on a new pair and surprise me. I couldn't wait to see her butt in them after our date.

I sent her some texts today on what I wanted to do to her bum. Hoping to have her for breakfast tomorrow morning when I deliver her morning coffee.

In my eyes the bum is another sexual orifice.

I have to agree that cunilingus is far more natural than analingus for both the giver and receiver. It is the now-common knowledge that clitoral stimulation is an essential part of a woman's orgasm. Every giving male is therefore drawn to that lovely spot. I think most women know that a man will want to taste (or want them to taste) and therefore have confidence that it's clean to eat.

By the way, anyone heard of the Clitoracy Project started by an artist, Sandra Wallace? Look her up on Tumblr. Trying to educate men in the importance if the clitoris.

Not so instinctive with the butt. It takes a lot of trust on the part of both the giver and receiver. Cleanliness is obvious. Taste is another. Overcoming cultural norms is a third. I had read about it way before I actually performed it. Happened the first time I was sexual with my SO. We spent the entire day in bed. About mid way through I gave her a back massage (complete with oil) and when I massaged her butt, I just HAD to . . . I took a while licking down to the spot waiting for protest . . . when I got none it was pure magic.

A lot of things people do in bed isn't "natural" in the sense that it is not directly part of procreation. Beyond that its not clear (and not important) what is and isn't more natural.

That said, its a bit surprising that anal sex is as popular at it is. Clearly many people like it, but its not clear why (beyond the "it feels good"). Its especially hard to figure out why people enjoy penetrating others that way, since the sensation really isn't very different from vaginal sex.

I wonder if it is wrapped up in some sort of dominance play. Anal sex is very painful if the receiver is not ready / willing, but very pleasurable if they are. Do people who enjoy receiving see it as just pure pleasure, or is there a sense of submission as well?
