I have been reading your story with interest. Thank for for sharing.

I am sorry to hear about your gf's present plight. These things happen. It's probably simply one of those things that needs time, but if you get the sense that it is more acute than just the usual reaction to over-indulgence in alcohol, by all means seek medical help.

She's dehydrated. Fluids baby. Try soda to settle her stomach (coke, something with carbonation but lower on the syrup), then pump her with as much water or mild juice type stuff as she can take. If she can't take much of that, even having her suck on or chew ice cubes will help. (Crush the ice for her if you have to.) Mineral or vitamin water is good if she can take it because it also has food value.

Seriously, dehydration is the root of all evil. Get her hydrated and everything else will follow.

Jen is certainly right about dehydration. Both the alcohol and vomiting will cause that. You probably know that.

Popsicles are one way of getting some hydration, along with those suggested by Jen. I would imaging there's a pharmacy or even a grocery store to hand where commercial rehydration solutions are available. If she can sip those and keep it down, that would be great. They are designed to restore both fluid and electrolytes lost through vomiting.

When I used to drink and have hangovers, Ginger Ale was my best friend. (Had to be Canada Dry brand. Don't know why.) I hope your GF is feeling better ASAP!

Saltines may help too.

On a cursory glance at kdc's post, I thought I saw "sardines". Not sure they are a great hangover remedy, although the salt would have some beneficial effect.

Something, is she STILL vomiting? or having dry heaves after all these hours? I can't tell for sure how long it's been, because I'm in the Eastern time zone & WHF also has some sort of lag time on the time stamp of posts that I've never taken the time to calculate...but if it's been this long, and she's still struggling, consider a move toward the ER. Some IV Fluids, among other things may be the best thing for her. We've all been there with over-indulging, well probably most of us, but really, it's nothing to take lightly. Seek help sooner rather than later if she's not improving.

I am hesitant about giving her carbonated beverages. I got her ice. I am thinking gatorade. They no longer contain syrups in their drinks. Thanks all.

And effy, I am running out of time, we have the show tonight. She has gotten better though. Her system pushed out like a niagra falls amount of vomit an hour or so ago. So she does feel better.

And you guys should keep following... Maybe tomorrow evening I can fill you all in on some experiences we had. One of them will surprise you.

Edit: Kitty, I did think about the ER, but I have seen improvement. We've been dealing with this since 3am and it is 1:46pm now. She just feels weak right now and has a headache. Thanks for caring everyone.

I'll defer to the informed people at this point but in order to be timely, if she just blew a ton of vomit she'll need more fluids. I recently went thru this with my mom - she had major nausea and vomiting and ended up in the hospital because she couldn't rehydrate.
