    pain w/ orgasms

i have been suffering from this for many years. it came on suddenly at 27 and after two years of exploratory it was diagnosed as a few things: chronic pelvic pain caused by chronic myofascial pain. i am on some medication but the best thing so far in my recovery was physical therapy. not just internal physical therapy for the pelvic floor muscles (squeamishly personal but necessary) and physical therapy for my whole body. our muscles are all interconnected and our nervous system is too (like pain in your belly may actually come from your back muscles or trigger points). stress, etc... may exacerbate this condition and i know that slowly i have been starting to feel better not only over all my body but my belly as well (esp during orgasms). it's a long road to recovery but it can be done.

    some additional things:

-make sure its not an uterine infection (or cystitis)
    -make sure its not endometriosis
-make sure you do not have STD's (you can get this from just one person and even if you use a condom)
-check your diet (as odd as this sounds it's actually important). lower caffeine intake, sugars, salts, etc...

good luck and feel better soon!

I found this site because i am worried about the pain i sometimes have after orgasm. Its like severe period cramps, and like a couple of yourselves its not just after intercorse either, the first time it happened it was like my body went into shock, i felt sick cold sweats and lots of pain this only lasted about 20 minutes but it was awful. I also notice that i get these cramp like pains when i have been running, I do quite a lot of running at work and am doubled up in pain at the end of it. I have made an appointment with my doctor for this Wednesday so will see what she is saying and will let you all know
ok that sick cold sweat pain you felt was the same pain i had when i had a large ovarian cyst rupture. the activity involved in having sex and orgasming could cause a cyst to rupture. you need to see a doctor. as far as missed periods. lady you need to find your personal way of relaxing. i had abunch of missed periods and it was cuz i lost my job, had NO money, and had relationship problems i was overstressed and eating unhealthy. maybe a gym membership?

someone in a sexuality class i took said this happened to her as well and when she had it looked at it was a condition known as vulvadinia... it is treatable and not dangerous, but obviously not as rare as one would think it is

I am a 43 year old, mostly healthy woman, that every once in a while after an orgasm, my vagina seems to get a very strong "charlie horse". It's NOT abdominal cramps, or anywhere else, it is just concentrated to my vaginal canal. I find that if my partner stays inside me,it's not as bad, as long as he stays inside me until the cramps let up. If it happens after a manually stimulated orgasm or if he pulls out too soon, I'm usually grabbing my crotch with my legs straight together to help ease the pain. It's like the contractions have to have " something to squeeze" I have been through countless visits/tests to my ob/gyn and she says that everything is normal.
I am not pregnant, not menopausal, it has nothing to do with if he has an orgasm. I am not on any medications, I LOVE sex, and have no inhibitions,it it is just plain and simple, cramps. Like another lady posted, it only happens to me once in a blue moon.
I have heard, however that during an orgasm, your cervix "dips" into your uterus, and that could be the cause. I wonder myself (and I like to think)that, because of my experiences, that it's just due to having very good vaginal muscles and it should bring more pleasure to my partner because of it.

My experience with something similar seemed to come down to not having orgasm often enough. All that tension builds up, and when not relaesed for weeks or months at a time, it did effect me physically and emotionally. Why not try masturbating on a regular basis, even if you don't climax, those endorphins get moving either way and now I am happier and my orgasm with my partner got better. Exercise is also great if you feel low energy levels that come with feeling of depression.

If you experience pain and an interuption in your periods, you would be smart to see an OBGYN. Could be emotional since you mentioned depression, but is always good to have a check up once a year anyway.

              it hurts like crazy

i have been suffering from this pain for many years now. it started in my early twenties and i am 29 now and still suffering. it seems to have gotten worse with time and if anything it is the major cause of my sadness (i won't say depression because i hope and think that i am not depressed yet!)
i get this pain after orgasms but usually around the same time of the month: before ovulation and before mentruation.
i've been checked by various gyn and they keep telling me that there is nothing wrong with me, but that cant be true if i have this horrible pain that makes me feel as though it's going to kill me. by the way, i dont have a partner and havent been sexually active in the real sense.
i wish someone could tell me what is wrong me and i'd be much happier, i don't even care if it's the worst thing ever, as long as i know what it is! but i have had to hear different stories everytime, and then it boils down to "lets investigate something else now since this didn't work". i am so tired of all this :'(
currently i am seeing a chiropractor/kinestologist and he says it could be my ileocecal valve since the pain is down in that region. i am not convinced, but again im spending money and time, taking the chance and just hoping that someone cures me. i can never have a partner if im going to cry after sex everytime.
reading these posts has given me some courage and comfort... at least i am not suffering alone... thanks girls x

So I am not crazy after all. Thank U

I am 35 I have the same thing, horrible cramps after orgasm. Mostly just after exterior stimulation leading to orgasm. But now it wakes me up in the middle of the night. I have been to 6 doctors. 2 told me it was impossible when i described it. One said I was crazy and 1 told me that since I don't have kids she wasn't about to go digging around looking for my 'up too high' uterus. I finally found one whe believes me and she did a sonohystogram, that recreated the pain. Then did a D&C, but I still have the pain. She sent me to another specialist who gave me some more (8) options, told me I wasn't crazy and I might have a nervous system imbalance. He wanted to try drugs. I am not depressed, I am a happy person. He put me on Nortriptyline. I stopped taking it when I reallized how angry and suicidal I had become. He also suggested Physical therapy. The therapist decided that its not a pelvic floor problem, but may have something to do with the muscles in my back. like someone else posted. I can agree with that for the times I get the pain while I am sleeping. But the orgasm ones? NO WAY. Today I tried looking for the problem differently and found this site. I read about what you all posted and I cried. I am not alone. Finally, Thank you! The last option I will have to make it stop is partial hysterectomy. Trust me that is looking REAL good.

I'm 32 and I have been experiencing the same extreme pain, that is after an orgasm, but not triggered by a penetration intercourse. It last for approx. 20 minutes, but it's , I'm sweating, and sometimes it gives me nausea. The only thing that gives me some kind of relieve is doing a number 2, sorry for the details. So, I don't know if it's linked or something, but it usually works. It does happen during my ovulation period, and fortunately not every month. I went to see one doc that told me I had an ovarian cyst (she felt it during my exam), but I went to see another that didn't felt anything. My twin sister has the same problem, she went for a scan and they found nothing, even though her doctor had felt a cyst during a palpation exam. I'm relieve to see other women have the same problems, I will try to do more physical activities like some suggested, I'm not really active...

                    Pain after orgasm

I'm 46 and this started happening to me about 3 years ago. I only get the pain if I have an orgasm after ovulation and before my period. I've found the quickest way to get rid of the pain is to have a hot bath or hot shower (bath works better). I'm in absolute agony, crying with the pain and I"ve been to doctors, gyno's and had scans blood tests galore and apparently there's nothing wrong with me. So glad I found this as my doc and gyno said they've never heard of these symptoms before. Maybe they should get on the internet too I tell my hubby now, no orgasms till after my period.

I also had pain after sex. A hot bath right after would be the only thing that would calm the cramping down. I had two doctors tell me that it was all in my head. It wasn't! Was diagnosed with Enodmetriosis. Had surgery and sex is what it used to be if not better! Ask your OBGYN about this and get checked. Good luck and the pain wont last forever!
