    Erectile Dysfunction

Well I never thought this would happen to me.... but it appears it has.....
When I met my wife about 17 years ago I had ED - I couldn't maintain an erection during sexual activity and if I could I couldn't ejaculate.
But a few months later it 'cured' itself and since then we've had no problems - unless you count not being to last more than about 2 minutes inside my wife before ejaculating a problem.
However, 3 weeks ago it all came back...... I had made wife orgasm using my fingers and she then got into doggy style, but by the time I had got in position behind her, my penis was just about limp..... same thing happened last weekend... I managed to stay hard but upon insertion it just went soft....... wife said not to worry and told me I could finish myself off - which I was able to do.
Then last night it happened again... went to go for doggy style and I went limp... so she turned over and we tried missionary but I still went soft.... I was so upset I ran to the bathroom and cried for about 10 minutes.
My wife said not to worry and maybe I am tired or something..... but it's not been a problem... I'm always ready to go at a moments notice

I am type 2 diabetic and overweight... and got told years ago that diabetes can lead to erection problems, but that was for men about 60 + (I'm 45) but this has not been a problem until recently

wife said we can try again tonight and she will wear a sexy scarf for me... but i am worried - what if the same thing happens? I am nervous just thinking about it

should I just not worry and see if things just work themselves out? or should I be looking at something like Viagra or Cialis?

    thanks in advance

You should look into a medical aid. Having confidence that you can perform is important. If you are unsure, you will have failures and that can lead to a mental block. Medicine does get rid of some of the spontaneity, though.

The 60+ is not correct AFAIK. Diabetes gradually damages the peripheral nerves in your body. It can do that damage at any age if glucose levels are not well controlled.

Is your wife agreeable to doing cowgirl or reverse cowgirl. That can work because you can squeeze your legs together to keep the blood from leaving your erection. Your short time before climax will actually work in your favor on this.

These suggestions are from personal experience.

See your doc and get a checkup, rule out anything going awry with your diabetes. <br />

Seems some anxiety is there already too...talk to your doc about all these things. It may not be necessary for ED meds just yet, but also, as jns says, its important to prevent that mental block or anxiety from taking hold. The doc can help you balance and weigh outcomes....

Definitely need a check up with the doc. Medical issues with the body can cause all sorts of other issues. The more of an issue it becomes, the more nervous you'll get, resulting it becoming even MORE of an issue. As with women and lack of lubrication, there is usually a reason, either medical or mental that causes ED.

Has your doctor switched your medication in the past few months? Could be that a medication is causing the problem.

thanks for the replies.... my diabetes has been up and down the last 18 months and my medication was changed about a year ago and it didn't cause me any problems.... but my sugar readings are better than they were 6-12 months ago
I will talk to my Dr about it next time I see him.... and ask advice
I am under a bit of stress at the moment as wife & I are trying to decide on the renovations to our home, but I don;t think that would affect me
I am starting to worry about it and the more I worry about it the more it is a problem..... my wife even gave me some foreplay with one of her nice scarves the other day and wore her sexy nightie and I was hard upon entry but she then said "go faster" as I was trying to get into my rhythm ... then told me my face was red and that kind of put me off and I went limp...

I would love her to get on top of me facing me - that would be my fantasy if she did that while wearing a pretty scarf.... but she's had knee problems and can't really get on her knees in that position... even doggy style can hurt her if i'm not 'quick' enough

thankfully she is not really bothered about it and is happy for the problem to 'sort itself out'

with Viagra or Cialia - how does it work...... do you just take it before you are about to have sexual activity and get an instant erection?
or do you have to plan sex and take it 2-3 hours beforehand?

I'd look into some natural remedies before surgery or pills. Something as simple as exercise could make a big difference. Exercising the pelvic floor can also help. Look up kegels.

I've used generic Viagra (sildenafil) and Levitra. You take them a half hour to an hour before sexual activity as directed.I do not get an instant erection rather gradually become erect. I prefer Levitra to sildenafil because it seems to work better for me.

thanks for the replies.... well it lasted about 4 weeks... I was able to masturbate and keep an erection (and ejaculate) but once inside my wife I would go soft….. but then after about 4 weeks I was somehow feeling hornier than usual – and when my wife & I did make love again I was so turned on I almost ejaculated while I was fingering her to orgasm – needless to say I did not last long once I entered her vagina…. The orgasm and relief was incredible!
We’ve made love twice since and both times I’ve managed to stay hard and ejaculate inside my wife

                  Happy days!
