I think the main problem is her position..... due to knee problems, she is not able to get on her knees for long and instead she lies across the bed and pulls my pen!s towards her - which is uncomfortable for me.... In that case I would urge a workout schedule to improve strength around the knee to compensate for other possible injuries for your wife. If there is a medical issue with the knee consult with a physical therapist first. As doctors can often underestimate the power og muscle building as a treatment. Unfortunately yes... my wife is a plus size lady (similar to Melissa McCarthy in size) and sometimes she has difficulty in doing things like tying up shoe-laces.... and if she walks up a set of stairs she is often puffing when she gets to the top.... she actually sprained her calf muscle or something about a week ago - walking down stairs would you believe!

Don't let the calf sprain stop going to the gym. If the gym has trainers they can often help find some alternative training she can do. Training will give you pains from time to time. and especially in the start phase. It's just important to keep at it, and make sure to take control over the food intake as well. Which is usually the hardest because of often thinking. But I've been so good. I need to treat myself to something good(Junk) food.

To keep going doing other exercises will help you get that habit of actually moving out for a workout instead of a couch night.
