Usually the woman is the one looking for a partner (female usually).
And I think its because the man feels like its easier for the female to get another female.

I've been lucky in life. I've always managed to find women who've loved sex.

On topic > I think that couples going for a treesome are those in a mature relationships (long time relationships) or those who are young and in a fresh and crazy relationship without caring that much for the consequences, just enjoying themselves. I saw a documentary about this actually.
