condoms
alrighty, my boyfriend and i have decided that we are going to have sex. i'm not in birthcontrol right now, but we are using a condom. how do you check to make sure nothing is wrong with it. i havent really seen condom up close and personal. so if you know any types on what to look for that would be great. thank you

There is really no way to know "for sure", but I can give you some basice pointers. After buying them, don't leave them in heat, it can compromise the latex. If your going to put it on after some foreplay, make sure you put it on right the first time, as putting it on backwards and flipping over can leave some pre-cum on the outside, and that could contain sperm.
I would recommend a condom that uses a spermacidal lubricant. I've used them before and there was no irritation or anything, and there is no such thing as too much lube. -
um you can actually tell if there its a tear or hole in the condom it pretty aparent and if your worried about something happening to the condom you should get spermacide strips, using that with the condom shouldnt let any of his swimmers by.
p.s. if you buy condoms buy the good ones dont go cheap.Comment

You have decided your ready and you trust you bf and your being sensible. You'll be fine it's a big step, a word of caution first time sex is rarely lives up to one's expectations. It takes time to enjoy it.
In the UK you get up close and personal with condoms and how to put them on in sex ed, surely you have had this education in your country?
Anyway as stated only use quality condoms (as many a heroin smuggler knows
). I only use Durex (for sex not heroin
).
I suggest you buy a couple of packs and get familiar with them. They have instructions on how to look after them and how to put them on. Better you read them before the 'big date'. Nothing worse than getting worked up only to have to stop and read the instructions.
Try putting one on something like a banana
To enjoy the 'big date' you need to be relaxed. You will be nervous but it will be ok.
Good LuckComment

If she is in the US, where for some years we've had this idiotic program of abstinance based sex ed, it is very likely the actual how tos of condom usage were not discussed.

There are some web sites that sell condoms and have detailed information on use, storing, lubes to use and pretty much everthing you would want to know. For example carrying them around in a tight pocket or wallet can compromise them.Comment

I believe EVERY woman she purchase and keep condoms. I keep them on me (because I like being prepared) My advice is to make sure he is using the right size! Magnums are NOT for everyone! The condom should fit securely and you need to pinch the tip to let the air out. DO NOT try and use two condoms at once! I'm not sure who started this idiotic rumor of it being more safe when it is not! The friction will cause either one or both of the condoms to break. I also agree and tell you that a condom alone is NOT enough protection. You should always pare your condom with spermicide (especially if you are not on birth control) Even when you are on BC you should still use a condom.

This is absolutly stupid. The UK is has massive teenage pregnancy issue. The government have taken the the Scandnavian model of Sex Ed (They have the lowest teenage pregnancy rates and teenages are not completly obsessed by sex). It's too early to tell whether it's working but it's probably only one of a few things the government is making a decent go of.If she is in the US, where for some years we've had this idiotic program of abstinance based sex ed, it is very likely the actual how tos of condom usage were not discussed.

Tell a teenager they can't do something, what they gonna do!!!!!
They will want sex and have to write into forums about condoms. Without any thought to the emotional step they are making is it right for them at this time.Comment

Huge teenage pregnancy here too. The sex ed sucks and like WC said, it's more or less, 'Don't have sex and let's scare the bejesus out of the kids with idiotic abstinence education' rather than, 'If you decide to do it, do a, b, and c'.This is absolutly stupid.
