Totally agree with mantula... I went on a couple of dates with a guy like this who wanted to act like we had a "special" connection and he wanted to settle down and he just seemed like something was off... And it was...HIM...If you smile when no one else is around, you really mean it.

Oh, he's gone. Haven't talked to him or heard from him.
I'm in a situation where I'm being pressured to "find someone", so I find myself being doubtful (maybe he's not so bad) or making excuses for someone's short-comings.
Yeah, I know I should just not give in. It's difficult when you have a parent constantly in your face about it. It's just as difficult when the "sleazy guy" in question is very attractive. Oh well. The best thing to do is keep patient

PB, how old are you that your parents are pressuring you to find someone? What region are you in?I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience.

27. Parents are East Indian, but we've settled in the states for 30 years. Marriage is a MUST for their generation, and they worry about what others think. Some of my mom's friends even think 27 is too old. Sadly, mom has a history of teaching me to "overlook" negative qualities and just settle for whoever shows interest. You guys are telling me to stay away from this guy, BUT my mom would say "He's just testing you to see if you're a good girl! How much money does he make?"
I want to get married and have kids, but I want it to be the right person. I don't believe in that that 27-30 is too old, or that you get less attractive (which is what my mom's generation believes).
"Talking to them" isn't an option. They don't get it. It just evolves into a fight filled with verbal and emotional abuse. The only thing I can do is ignore them, keep stalling and hold my ground.
If I get involved with the "wrong guy" and we break up, my mom will blame me saying that I caused it or that I scared him off. This is why I'm so paranoid about getting involved with someone that just wants no-strings attached sex. I need to make sure the person is invested in something long-term."Dating is like slow dancing. Let the man lead, or you will fall all over your feet"Comment

I also had a date a few months with a very attractive man that grabbed my breast when kissing. This was our first date. I did not find this appropriate at all, and even had a nightmare after he dropped me off. His excuse was "I grabbed it b/c you have nice . Your body language was telling me you liked it." Huh? A kiss at the end of the night doesn't mean "Come touch my breasts."
"Friends" around me were saying it wasn't a big deal and how "At least he stopped when you told him no." Not trusting my instincts, I went along with my friends thinking "Okay, maybe I should give him a chance"
My gut feeling was right, as he drifted away eventually. He realized he wasn't going to get a sex buddy.

PB, good call on the groper. How much pressure do you get about getting a guy who is a stellar earner? My guess is quite a bit. How about pressure about getting a guy who is of Indian decent? I'm wondering about how much the field of guys is narrowed. On top of that, add the fact that almost all guys have one defect or another, makes for a tough situation. Where have you found dates in the past? Maybe some of the other contributors can help you by giving you tips on where to look.I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience.
