Yea - that's the look from your shoes up to your hair. Why do women do that?

The men just stare at her butt.
lol Ohhh I know that look. To tell you the truth I've never understood it either. It must just have something to do with esteem and wanting to find something on someone you find attractive that 1) either you can change on/in yourself to enhance your appearance, 2) hoping you find something negative to make you feel better about yourself. or 3) (and what I prefer) is trying to find something of interest to spark a conversation. I'm as guilty as anyone at commenting about pretty shoes or jacket or blouse but only really when it's obvious that it's something different. I also tend to look because I appreciate beauty, especially in women (read into it what you want) so sometimes I just look to admire. "The Look" though is different and I don't recall consciously doing it after maybe 16 because at that age I realized there was no one better than me as a person and I wasn't better than anyone else. haha

Oh man I've been totally guilty of giving AND receiving the "Look". Most of the time, when I see it, it's done it a totally judgemental way. Women are so competitive and get jealous over every little thing, so if they see another woman (whether they're more attractive or not)... they have to give the once-over to find something to pick on. Then that self esteem magically goes right up. It's childish but it happens. I'm not as malicious in that way... I do it when someone makes an awful fashion faux pas though haha. Like shoulder pads. I can't believe I still see those.

lol - shoulder pads, what could have been the horrible thought process on that invention?

Ok I admit I have definitely noticed the shoulder pads (kind of hard not to). It's beyond what fashion sense I do have to comprehend how those could have ever been in vogue. haha

Haha really... man, those 80's. I mean if a woman wants to look like a football player than more power to 'em but... be prepared for some judgement. ha

Haha - I'd hate to be the woman who got the stanky eye from you!

Haha I think there's a difference between the stanky eye and the "look" (sometimes.)
We're allowed to look at other women in detail. We can stare at them and say it's the shoes, the jacket, the shoulderpads. She's not going to come over and chat us up (unless we're lucky wink wink!)
If you give a man the once-over, you get either him running away scared you're a crazy stalker or you get that unwanted attention spoken of in the pick up lines thread. Not that it's the reason I look a woman up and down, but it's a reason. Gotta rest my eyes somewhere.

Haha I always feel so awkward when I catch someone looking at me anywhere. I have to check to see if there's something on my face or if there's crp on my clothes (happens more than you might think).

As far as the stanky eye (hahaha) goes, I try not to give it too often either because I always get caught, or I feel bad afterwards. Or both. I have a pretty funky style so it takes a lot to get my attention that way. Sometimes I'll see something crazy and make the "Oh NOOOO" face before I have a chance to realize I'm doing it.

In my experience, I'd have to agree that most guys tend to think if you're looking at them, it's an open invitation. I can't tell you how many times I've just been looking around a room and some guy happen to look at me at an unfortunate moment, and his ego went up. Obviously this doesn't apply to all men. People just like to see what they want to see I suppose
