If he does call or text me, I will talk to him. Like I've said a dozen times, he's my best friend first. I have decided that it's best for me to not talk to him twice a day, everyday though. That will definitely have to be cut short. I need to ease myself off of him. (Sounds like a drug, I know) And honestly, he is. He is so much like a drug. Not always an upper either.

Last night I told him that I thought that we should stop talking for a while and he completely ignored that, said he'd call me tomorrow and that he was going to bed. It left me feeling a little stunned so I just said good night.

Don't you think a no contact deal would be better for like... a month? Any thoughts?Last night I told him that I thought that we should stop talking for a while and he completely ignored that, said he'd call me tomorrow and that he was going to bed. Honestly, I do think that would be best. It's funny though. I say that I am ready to let him go this time but the more I try to let him go, the more I want to keep him and continue to hope that things will work out. When I think of not talking to him for a month I think, "Oh god... What if he meets someone else?" It's a sick circle of thought that I go into. Even now I'm thinking, "He didn't call tonight. He was at a wedding reception. I wonder if he brought someone home and is having sex with her." That kills me the most, the not knowing. Although, he would tell me if I asked. He's honest like that. I'm afraid to ask though because I'm already hurt enough.Comment

I don't know what to tell you. But what I can share is what worked for me (well, at least for the most part - as you can see, we're back and engaged). I deleted his number (glad I didn't memorize), maybe you know his number by heart - that would be harder. Temptation is always there.
The mind wanders and wonders. The heart wouldn't listen to reason. Sucks, doesn't it?
What things can you do proactively to divert all your attention away from him? Try to come up with a list. Make it point - by- point, and share it here - if you feel like it.Comment

Yes, I know his number by heart now. The first time I deleted it, I didn't. So the temptation wasn't there. Even though I know it by heart, I still can't bring myself to delete it.
Hmm... That's something that I will have to think about. I'm not sure what I can do. I will have to think of something because I rearranged my schedule to talk to him every single day.Comment

Linds, beautiful, dis-re-arranging your schedule to talk every day, see he went to a wedding so he didn't call you and you were waiting or hoping... You said, break, he said call you tomorrow because he knows that you will.
I like your idea of weening off him but you have to make that stand, not go into shock over, yeah, yeah, talk tomorrow, just do it, no you don't, this is my problem, you have me where you want me, no more.
I will do what I want.. because.

Now is the time to RE-arrange your schedule for YOU. "YOU time" everyday, instead of "his time" .
