Well, pretend to believe him, but be ready.
    He'll hit you again.
His response to confrontation is violence.

        I hate saying this

The only reason I post this, is because it
        is true.

In all the years of dealing with domestic violence,
and I'm talking across the board, from upper class
to lower, there are only three cases in which
the abuse ceased, the relationship continued.

In those three, violence was used by the woman.

In one, the woman slammed her husband over the
head with a frying pan and knocked him out.

In another, a man awoke to see his wife, bawling
like a cow with a knife over his heart.

In the third, a wife stabbed her husband in the back.

I don't know why the violence worked....but it did.

So is there some sort of statistic for the possibilities of him continuing to be abusive? There is a good chance that he won't do it again... isn't there?

              good wishes

I hope and pray for your sake darling, that he doesn't hit you again and you are able to prove Kaylar wrong, no pun intended Kaylar. However, she is right statistically speaking. Obviously this woman has had many years of dealing with this situation. So, keep us posted in the wonderful workings of your marriage and how things are going. Don't be afraid to talk to us in fear of, "I told you so," because we really don't want to say that. You seem like a strong woman and anything that comes at you, I think you can kick it in the butt. Good luck girl! Wish you all the best.

                sad statistics

It is unfortunate, but the fact is, once physical violence is
introduced in a relationship it becomes almost impossible
                to dislodge.

Well the first year of our marriage my husband and I used each other as punching bags emotionally and physically (it was just as much me as it was him if not more) but we are going on year 4 next month and we dont even argue any more
Statistics are just that but you may not ness be one!

                      not another statistic

Abuse isn't just another statistic and it doesn't happen to everyone. Statistics are just reported circomstances that's all. There are so many men that hit once and realized what they did was wrong. So how is everything going for you? Did everything work out? I am anxious to know.
