You BOTH need to apologise..He will not apologise to you until you apologise for pushing him to the limit, threatening to do so and further pushing him until he did it, you were shocked...Shocked because you lost the control, he did it...he feels that control, maybe now she will not do this again, I will not apologise, maybe now she will get it and stop doing it, yet your solution is if he won't seek councelling your out of there....

    Your both wrong...

It's hard to be patient when you are an in-patient person... I can feel your the stronger one, I grew up in a functional family, yet you didn't...I don't like you leaving dirty dishes, clean them up, and then he's the rebel, he wants equality, so he says, I don't like the sheet you put on...this is a viscious cycle.
    ...
I blamed family because 9 out of 10 times, your childhood reflects how you act as an Adult, yet that's by choice...You can choose to be like your parents or you can choose to take those lessons and ensure you are never like them.

See, you hit your Mother when you were a child. Your mother would yell and scream at you be verbally abusive.

I believe that you have taken on those traits....But in denial over that, after all we don't want to be like our parents... You choose to claim that no, BD is wrong, you mean you discuss in a loud voice....

For instance, I have no patience sometimes myself, because my Mother had none when I grew up...I too could not communicate with her she would shut off...But we now have a bond and relationship just like you do...But, she knows I didn't appreciate it, didn't enjoy my childhood but that I FORGIVE her, because that is who she is but I choose not to be like her because that is not who I am....It took me until 25 years of age to discuss that with her and other matters and FORGIVE...

    Maybe that's your first step.

He also came from a family that had issues... You claim more so...But you know? Any issue can affect a child and they can bring their past into their present and their future....You think his problems as a child were worse than yours? I bet they were equally the same. Why?

You have no patience so any little thing he does disturbs you. I suggest you tell him these things over and over, each one he does that "bugs" you including his inability to be what you want in bed...Because a man doesn't go from sex alot to nothing and then when asked for it and says tomorrow, I'm tired, and an arguement emerges, then states " I'm not your sex toy"...

Just as a woman feels used, abused and only there for sex, so can a man feel the same. He has emotions too..I said this before somewhere amongst all of this back and forth...He WANTS to be loved too...not just there for sex and financial support.

This man....supports you financially, he supports your Mother financially as he can, when he can... This man, lost a watch and it was given by your Mother, he felt bad, but you didn't react...He wondered "she doesn't care, is that because it's not important because I'm not important?"... This man gives you freedom, independence, but not enough...He knows that.....Everything he does ends up with no patience, it was wrong, or stop defending, or geez I'm frustrated that didn't last long.... He knows that...He's at his wits end....

Like all marriages...You lose some freedom, independence...Like all marriages, it takes time to get a happy balance living together, all of a sudden your in each others faces, sharing the same house, bed day in day out, not what either is used to...He'll throw his jocks in the corner, leave his shoes in the lounge, expect you to make the bed, not what you are used to....

Im-patience if bad, can mean you can't live with someone...What ever it is you want, you want it now.

My fiance laughs at me, I have to wash that dish now, not drink my coffee, I'm impatient But, because he laughs it's okay..He ensures he helps sometimes and makes the bed, picks his clothes up and there is a happy balance...Because, I don't feel overwhelmed and I know I'm loved and I know he shares...

You need to organise a harmony between you both.

You need to realise that marriage takes work and time to get things into a happy medium and WORK it, everything in life is work...

You need to realise you both have to apologise, you're both at fault and quit the if he doesn't I'm walking because you provocted him....

And, you need to realise you have issues, he has issues and if you both can't do councelling then you need to sit down and discuss as Adults your weaknesses and how it affects the other person calmly and how you can change those things.

Because the next man you meet you will have the same problem.... Unless he is much stronger than you...

And because this man is obviously trying very hard to do the right things, but you nit pick him, in your own admission, about alot of things your not happy with simple things...And he defends himself over simple things, so this stems from how he is being treated and how he then defends..

The slap....accept that you have been pushing him even on your honeymoon because it wasn't a fairytale as you expected so you got mad and so there became an arguement....

BD is correct, verbal and emotional abuse is more damaging than physical... I've been there too.

And verbal and emotional abuse makes a person lose self esteme become nothing, think they are nothing and do not want you to touch them sexually as they feel un-loved and just bossed around....and that therefore, they too are just being used, not loved, so why have sex....

    It's time to realise that....

    CW
I could not disagree with whatever you have mentioned here. Thanks again for putting things together. You are right when you say that both need to apologize. I would never say no to that. Right now the situation is out of hands and I really do nto know what to do. I hope that i figure out.

Just be honest to yourself first off...and then to him...

Sit down and let him know that you know Marriages take work, that it's only really been a couple of months that it's difficult to live with someone when your independent but you are living with him because you married him and you married him because you love him.

Tell him that we all have faults and you've thought about all of this, evaluated it..and realise you have no patience, that you push the issues and that you had no right to make him feel like a sex toy or to disturb his sleep to get what you wanted, apologise.

Then let him know that you also appreciate that you pushed his buttons so he retaliated however, two wrongs don't make a right and hitting is wrong, physical contact is wrong and you hope he realises that and you'd like for that never to happen again...You will curb your own im-patience and have more respect if he is tired in the future....and re-uterate you love him, he is not a sex toy .

Then ask him how can we change our habits that are toxic and make this marriage a happy one?

What don't you like and I'll tell you the same, let's start communicating and loving each other again.....

But you have to work it, stick to what you agree with same for him.

This is the 3rd days since the ugly incident and I just want to share that I feel calmed down. I have been down with a fever since yesterday morning and I feel drained of all the energy to think about things.
He asked me on both the days if I want to sort anything out but as he spoke, I knew all he meant was that if I am ready to listen to him lash out at me as soon as I opened my mouth. But, I am in no position to handle anything ugly right now. So I have preferred to say NO to him.
Last night he was even checking my phone (something he rarely does, he suspects me of having been talking to somebody about this whole thing...or planning to leave the house)... and as I took it away, and told him that since I do not check him phone, he shold not check mine, his reply was quite full of anger 'Fine, get lost!" ... So, I just feel that nothing good is going to come out of trying to talk to a person who is not over his anger. I hope I am not wrong about it but I say this from whatever I have known him for the last few years.
Yesterday I asked the servant to prepare meals ( I did not do that the day before out of hurt and anger)... But we both ate separately and he was less angry than the first day... and I am too exhausted to be angry at anyone... I juts kept coughing and sneezing in the night and around 5 am, he woke up to ask whats wrong and I told him nothing is wrong... he took my temperature and asked if i needed medicines and I said I don't. He just lied in the bed for a while and then probably could not sleep due to my coughing all over the room and went to sit in the living area... he brough me some tea in the bed (usual thing until our fight) and made some breakfast before leaving for work, folded my laundry ,asked me if I need to see a doctor and then left for work... I am just saying that he is not the same person as before and neither I am but I feel a lot hurt right now because I don't have the heart to reach out to him... I don't know if I am too cold or stubborn for not saying anything to him but I find my words stuck in my throat and my mind.. I even wish he did nothing for me at all to help me because I can't do anything to appreciate it right now.. I can not and I feel like he is doing me a favour as he would be doing to a sick person. ...
Please do not say that I am being a whining or something... no matter how much I realize my own faults, its still not easy for me to go on living normally with someone after this incident... if nothing, it shakes your belief totally...

Is slapping wrong? Yes... Is shaking someone when they are trying to sleep... not allowing them to and trying to force sex on them wrong? Yes. If you were a man that came to this forum and said your wife was trying to sleep and you kept shaking her awake demanding she have sex with you NOW, and you were getting physical with her, aggressive, wouldn't let her alone in your demand... trying to MAKE her do it... and you said ' she then had the nerve to slap me' should i leave this violent woman?

Do you know what everyone here would be saying? I bet you can imagine. No one deserves to get hit, ever. No one deserves to get forced into sex, demeaned, deprived of sleep, etc.. Both of you were wrong for what you did. He needs to never hit you again, but you also need to never attack him like that again. If you guys do love each other, you both have to make your physical bounderies clear and not cross them.

You can not see good of this man, all you just wrote was someone willing to forgive what you did, and take care of you in your illness, that's feelings, love....he could have had the servant it all.

I think that all we have said is repeated over and over really.

Maybe, as you are sick you can't focus, think clearly...But ignoring him, your still after that apology, you are stubborn because you still want him to be the first to initiate "sorry".....

            That's seeking "control or attention".

I suggest that you wait until your better and really think on all of this.

And, I suggest that you tell him, let me talk to you when I am better and leave it at that instead of "trying to make him feel bad" and therefore apologise...

Remember you are both at fault and remember ,he's twisted your arm before, you've kicked and pushed before....What you give out you get back....unfortunately..

Yes, no man should ever hit a woman for the last time, we all agree.

But, he retaliated to being constantly harrassed for minutes on end...stressed wrote an excellent dialogue I guess some of it rang very true as you only replied to me.

And the reason why we are taking this thread diferently than we would? Is because, he "lightly" slapped you, he had no intention of going full bore and hitting you ...he wanted you to realise he meant what he said, stop it....

Lastly, the evil eye, yes he has anger problems... When wound up his blood starts to boil and he loses control to a degree, but yes so do you, because you do it verbally with words loud and with kicking and pushing...

BOTH of you have anger problems and both of you have huge communication problems.

Again, see it for what it is...Your both at fault so stop waiting for his move... Be the stronger person and admit your own faults to him and him to you and get on with repairing and working towards what constitutes marriage....

I have noticed that there are a few more threads on this forum regarding physical abuse and usually they go about as.. ."we were having an argument and he screamed and hit me or called me names and hit me"... I just mean to ask that I have noticed that you have always advised the woman to leave and I did not find the details of what the argument was or where ppl were hit or how lightly or strongly... Since you people are the experts here, are you getting those details before advising what to do? I ask this because I am seeking help and advice and all the screaming , hitting , calling names happened in my house too and I gave brutally honest details... I mean, I just wanna be sure that all your replies on all the threads are the way they are because the woman was not in the wrong at all and you had those details ...
I am just unsure...and asking this before taking the final plunge... because I am valuing your opinion the most on this forum, somehow...

I have a feeling that I am getting hooked to talking to you all when everybody has already given me their best opinion and even my conscience agress to most of it ... And probably I will not get rid of doubts ever because the situation is such. I think its only because I am not talking to the person that I should be talking to.. :-) ...so for my own sake, I am going to just gather and absorb all that I can from this forum and start working on things in whatever way its possible and is meant to be... Thanks for helping out!

If the rest of the women had said that they provoked the situation, I'm sure the advice would be different. There may have been a few who whitewashed their actions. They got advice in relationship to what they said the situation was. If you go back through the answers by various posters, there were a number that advised you to get out and even file a police report. This is still an option. In fact I would advise getting out even at this stage, because maybe it would wake up your husband to the seriousness of the situation, that things cannot just be glossed over. Can you go live with family for a while?

If you read the information about this forum you would know there are no self described or properly qualified experts here who are willing to give up their anonymity. It is a forum of people giving opinions from their own life experiences as well as any additional inquiry into various subjects. Many find the opinions useful, some do not. That is the readers prerogative, to take the advice or not.

BTW, I pulled a BIL off of a SIL a bit more than a year ago after he started beating her with balled fists at midnight after getting drunk. After the first time, he went to do it again, getting in a few punches. After the second time, and after thinking "aw ", I gave him a push that threw him about 10 feet and that was pulled a lot. She kicked him out for about a half a year, before allowing him back after his promising not to drink. The fighting was out of character for him, but he did it. This was in a different country that isn't known for country club prisons, where prisoners fear the guards. And no jury system. And as a foreigner, your second class. And where spousal abuse is the norm and police do not get involved. Why don't you ask some of the posters their personal situation on spousal abuse or go back through their posts?
I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience.
                  ...
Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot?

I think for some reason to be honest, we are trying to "save" 1) your marriage and 2) you from future situations simular due to your way of handling things..and HIS way of handling things...

You see, we have told men to leave as well, as the wife is abusive, it's evident. For some reason men tell their story in depth, in details and we can get the picture better. Or the wife is using them...

Yes, as JNS has pointed out, mostly, the women here that write, only give us the abuse details, sometimes we ask more and get nothing sometimes we only get, I did nothing....And, so we say get out. What else can we advise? Isn't it better to have someone like you tell the whole story? Stay with us and give us insight? If we keep saying the same thing isn't therefore, it worth re-reading and thinking?

Sweet.... I personally think, if you two can talk, can if you can both make it very clear, it is not acceptable, either of you based on what you wrote, maybe, it will never happen again...That's why we all have spent so much time on this thread, consider that as well... I was here until 11pm last night replying to you...Staying with you...

Also a light slap verses hitting is probably also why we are all, trying to get you to see, it's both of you...

That's what this Forum is about, trying to see what you are saying and giving an opinion....

What I will say to you is I have definately done this before, spent time trying to get a person to see something in the exact same style of thread, just recently actually and honestly? Your the first person that didn't leave staight away, ignore the member's comments including mine, I'm a member So to me? That means you listened.

What you take from it is going to guide you into where you go with it..What you ignore is going to have consequences. Because the same things have occured, arguement over sex, attention, intimacy, resulting in twisting of the arms and now esculated to slapping.

So, one last time, NO he can not hit you...Please go to every post, we all said NO.....

But, physcologically? There is a pattern, if you can calm yourself and accept he is tired and jump him in the morning with a smile? I'll bet he'll jump you with a smile back and none of this will happen, due to sex. Think back on every time, every arguement...She did and so he did this...A pattern...You have to stop the pattern....Doesn't matter who's first...You came here, asking, so you have the upper hand, you have the advice, the solution....

As for the othersides, you mentioned you have to take the same attitude.

And, as for him and what he did, you have to talk to him, tell him it's not on.... show him this thread... if your brave enough to also admit that it's a problem between both of you that both are doing things that are wrong.

AND, I would tell him, If I have done nothing, to provoke you and you ever hit me, twist my arm again, I am leaving...and Leave.

Becuase only then do you have 100% reason to....

I'd like you to come back once you've thought about all of this...and you two have sat down and realised you want to be married and your going to solve this

Or, you've decided he's not a match for you afterall and you left...

Either way understand, we aren't at all going at you, we want you to work this out and we believe it or not, are truly trying to help you.
