She's half-way accross the country. As a practical matter it isn't enough money to pursue in a civil lawsuit. By the time you paid legal fees and the distance problems, any money recovered would be "eaten up". Which leaves criminal prosecution. I have talked with a member of the District Attorney's Office. They don't do a lot of these but - it's an easy "slam-dunk"; they would probably offer her a deal to escape a criminal record provided she made full restitution. I gave her two weeks to correct the problem...if she doesn't...well..."science provides an answer".

Just an update. My ex-wife sent me my half of the tax return. I have always been amused and amazed how "reasonable" people become when they realize their hand is on the chopping block and you have the cleaver in your hand.

Sure, sorry ....I let the ex-wife know that I could bring a felony embezzelment charge for her "converting to her own use" money that was mine and she had a legal (fiduciary) duty to see I recieved. She couldn't hide this or simply "pay it back" because it was "established" by her bank records over which she has no control. They would show that the money came in..and got spent instead of sent to me. I think her motivation was to preserve her "credit line" (approx. 10K) without using it to finance the costs of the move. I am sure she "rationalized that by "planning" to pay it back and send it to me "later". Almost all people who embezzel plan to pay it back. Besides if she used the credit they would require she pay it back promptly with interest. Maybe if she just "put me off" I might just "forget it". If the Felony was charged the DA's Office would issue an arrest warrant and have her hauled back from Florida and placed in Jail. But fortunately ;o) that didn't prove necessary- not sure I would have really done it.

I doubt you would have either, but just remember what comes around goes around, she sure likes to take your money.....

I think it important to remember that she grew up very poor. She was "moderately" successful as an LPN; but still had to scramble to "make ends meet". But being a dryland Rancher/farmer leaves one hungry for the "better things" in life. I wonder now if her attraction for me was more about the things I provided;she had never had jewelry, cruises,a motorcycle..even just a few "free dollars" in her pocket to just "spend" as she saw fit. But in the end ..that wasn't "enough". As we say in the program:"if you are not happy with what you got...more will make no difference." And sadly..She wasn't happy and I am reminded of the song "Lying Eyes".

Material possessions should make no difference in a relationship. Does it make it easier to have a little extra, yes...but it shouldn't be what's most important. You deserve someone who's priority is you SJ, not material things. Hope you really find someone that shows you that, too.

I have wondered; of late, if that is where her daughter got "it". Some women...say again SOME...just view men as a source of income and not much else. Kind of like carnival workers view the people who come to the carnival..."marks"..whose sole function is to 'cough up' money. I don't think it is malicious as much as much as just a learned way of thinking.

You know that there are two types of women, those who are princesses and have a deliberate aim and goal, know what he will be doing for a living, and some deliberately get pregnant to snag him and the other that is a hopeless romantic and purely looks for love
