At first, I thought it was just a fluke, but then it kept happening over and over again and I decided that it must be my pill.

I have tried lubricant, which seems to be irritating to my skin. I don't know if it is just this one brand or not though. I want to call my doctor and schedule an appointment so I can talk to her about this, but I have been away at college, and have had no success with sex since I started this pill 6 months ago. We take the time to sufficiently "warm up" beforehand, but still no luck.

At this point, I think that my problem is also becoming a mental thing because it has been so long. I am beginning to tense up in anticipation of pain because that is all that has been happening when we try to have sex. My drive has also seemed to decrease. This never used to happen before, either.

I just wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem with Yaz, and what I can possibly do to fix this. I know it is a low dose pill, but is it still possible that these effects are from the yaz? I feel so horrible, and I know I'm a bit depressed because it is so discouraging to want to be intimate with my boyfriend and not be able to.

    Thanks for any help!
Hey, I understand your problem with birth control pills. YAZ is not the only pill that does decrease vaginal lubrication and libido. About 5 years ago I tried 2 or 3 different brands not including YAZ, but Ortho-tricylcine & Ortho-tricylcine Low. They decreased my vaginal lubrication and therefore I didn't want to have sex. That messed with my mental thought process making me not have the drive to have sex or hard to become aroused. I just started YAZ and I'm not sure as far as how it will do with lubrication. I have only been taking it for a week. I have been told that there's a lubricant from "Pure Romance", ya know those sex toy parties, that is called "Just Like Me". I've heard it is wonderful and doesn't cause irritation or feel different than natural lubrication. I hope some of this helps you. Good Luck.

This is my first month using Yaz, I swapped from Lavette. I am about to finish my fourth non-active pill from Yaz and start on my second month packet and I still haven't got my period. I am wondering if this is normal in terms of changing pills as my previous pill was higher in estrogen and this is lower, as well as the prostogen, it was lower but Yaz is higher.

After reading these threads I am a little concerned about Yaz, but I was recommended this as I keep getting thrush and the doctor believes that having a higher dosage estrogen pill is causing it. My gyno recommended going on to Mirena but I have never been pregnant and it could be harder.

I have found though Yaz is generally ok and well tolerated by me. I must admit though I did have a mini panic attack one morning as I was running late and was having trouble getting out of the garage and every time I reversed out I was so close to a gum tree. Took me five minutes and I almost broke down and cried as I've been reversing out of that driveway for months now (newly brought house).

Yaz has been linked to some pretty serious side effects, including blood clots, heart attacks, strokes and gallbladder disease.

Well, my period came just about the same time was it would if I was on the old pill, so thank god it was the hormone change.

I am finding Yaz not too bad, I am not emotional and have not experienced any other mini panic attacks, I think it must of been overtired and really didnt want to be up at 5 and getting out and driving at 5.30 for a gym session.

            Abnormal Pap Smear with Yaz

            Hi,

I was wondering if anyone on here has had an abnormal pap smear while on or after getting off of Yaz? I am 33 years old, have had routinely normal paps, but received a diagnosis of LSIL abnormal pap smear during my last pap. I had a colposcopy, and was told to return in six months. While I know that they say abnormal paps are caused by HPV, I am wondering if the Yaz had anything to do with the cell changes in my cervix. I have had three lifetime sex partners, and while I realize that doesn't matter and I could have been exposed to the virus, Yaz wreaked havoc on my body, and I wonder if it had something to do with this.

I was on Yaz for three years, and it completely transformed my body. I went from weighing 118 pounds to 137 pounds by the time I got off of it. I'm a marathon runner, never changed my exercise routine or diet, but completely blew up like a balloon. I see pictures of myself and I became almost unrecognizable. I looked like I was full of water all of the time. My hair fell out and became very thin, to where you could see my scalp through my hair. I was also very depressed and moody, just not normal for me and my personality.

Since going off of the drug, I've returned to 122 pounds, my hair is thick and normal again, but now I'm battling this dysplasia issue. My periods haven't returned to normal either. I basically bleed for the first day, and a little the second, and it's gone. It concerns me that I will have problems getting pregnant in the future.

Anyway, if anyone else has experienced anything similar, I'd love to know. Thanks and best to you.

              It did wonders for me!

I have been on Yaz for a year and 9 months. It is my first birth control and I started taking it when I went to boot camp. Before the Navy and taking Yaz, I was an unpleasant person to be around when it was that time of the month. I could be sitting there and just start crying for no reason. I would have these mood swings where I would just wake up and be angry for the whole day. My cramps were unbearable and my periods would last 8+ days. The only thing that was consistent was that they were about 28 days apart. Your second week at basic training, they bring in a doctor who introduces almost every BC method possible. From the shot to the IUD. The doctor started to explain Yaz and the side effects as well as what it treated. I decided to take Yaz because I knew that I was in need of some kind of relief.

It took my body almost 4 months to get used to the birth control and to become regulated. The first thing I noticed was that my acne cleared up completely! I had terrible body acne which would be embarrassing and leave scares on my shoulders.

My periods, in the first few months of taking the pill, were about 12 days long. Finally after seeing my Gyno, she told me to wait another month and if it wasn't working, to come back and she will switch it. Almost immediately, the periods became regulated and only last 3-5 days. For me, that's GREAT! They are light and I hardly get cramps. My sex drive is just as high as it was before the pill. I have NO problems with lubrication.

Yaz is NOT your average birth control. You also have to remember that smoking will ALWAYS increase your chances for complications such as blood clots.

One last thing... For my job in the Navy, I am standing all day, most of the time, in a position where I cannot make any kind of movement or faces. There have been many times that I have almost passed out from blacking out from standing too long.
To counter-act this, you have to drink SO MUCH water. Also, get your blood sugar checked. I know that is my problem. Getting light headed can be because your dehydrated or you have low blood sugar.
Don't just think that because one person started having problems with a certain medication, that you are having the same thing as well. And Yaz wont work for everyone like it has myself. I'm conscience of my body but when one little thing goes wrong, I don't automatically blame it on my BC just because all of these other symptoms are being reported. A lot of times, cases are false and someone will just get A LOT of money for winning a case!

Also, on the weight gain; Women tend to retain water so all that extra weight could be water weight. Myself, I've never had a problem with gaining weight that I know wasn't because of myself. I have to be active and maintain a certain weight for my height.
Stress also plays a HUGE role in your weight.

Yup, Yaz is not your average birth control. I also have had to drink a lot of water because the drosperenone in the Yaz makes me have to go pee a lot. I've actually found though, that for me, it has helped me loose weight. So the hormone may be helping me by getting rid of water weight. I'm overweight so any little bit helps.

I've been on all kinds of birthcontrols since I was 16, I'm now 21 and I was taking Yaz for 6 months. After being on Yaz for about 4 months I really started to noticed the weight gain which lead to depression along with extreme mood swings, headaches and dry eyes around the time I needed to take my pill, and fainting associated with anxiety. The only positive things about taking Yaz, was it really helped with the bloating and cramps and my flow only lasted about 3 days max, and I had sliky smooth skin. What finally pushed me to stop Yaz was around the 5th month I had a very intense anxiety attack with caused me to black out and faint, not only did this happen once but twice in the same month. So I avoided large crowds and loud music, that helped but I was still having the anxiety attacks at least once every 2 weeks just doing everyday things. I told my OBGYN what I have experiencing and he did not believe it was Yaz and he referred me to a physician and told me to STAY ON THE PILL. I saw the physician once and quit the pill the next day. Since being off Yaz (5 months) I've only had 1 anxiety attack. My face is terrible, my periods are killing me, and I'm just in a bind about Yaz. It was the only birth control that really HELPED ME but the side effects may not be worth it. I would like to give Yaz one more shot. At least now I know what could happen and hopefully try to avoid the previous problems. I dont know if I would recommend Yaz to anyone with the problems that are associated. I believe the the relief from my cycle Yaz has it worth it to me.

I am so glad I'm not alone in worrying about taking yaz. I have been taking it for the last 2 year now but only consistantly for the last 10 months. Last September I started taking it again after 2 months off and two weeks into the pill packet I had a panic attack and passed out, and the doctors said it was from dehydration. I started it again after my next period came around and it seemed to be working great. I had super short periods, little bleeding, and I didnt feel crazy before my period started.
However the last 3 months I have really been struggling with anxiety and panic attacks and I passed out again. I have also started to get random spasms in my legs, not often or very painful but is still concerns me.
Im just wondering if there is anyone else in my situation? what did you start taking after you stopped yaz?
